Just talked to a DINAN authorized dealer
2008's cannot BE upgraded with the new Dinan software because I was told they went to a "MOST" system for 08' and the ECU would have to be shipped to CA (Dinan HQ) where they can bench-upgrade it.....anyone else with an 08' thinking about doing this?

I think Procedes are having the 08 problem as well.
Haven't you guys seen the thread that shiv started wanting the 08 for testing? Why would he start this if there wasn't a problem? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99471

Actually, the 08's have a D-CAN diagnostic bus which requires a special 16 pin cable in order to diagnose or program the car. All the dealers have the correct 16 pin cable, but the Dinan programmer obviously does not. My guess is that Dinan will make the correct cable available soon so the 08's can be programmed also. It's really just some changes in the pins on the cables, not really a big deal.

I am strongly considering it. It'll make my daily driver plenty fast in the snow! 405+ lb/ft of (crank) torque @ 4000 or 4500, can't remember which, is plenty strong. There are no dips in power across the rev range. It has been released today.
I know that there are better power gains out there for less money, but I want the comfort of a factory warranty. Besides, I'll have the M3 for the fast work. I just got off the phone with Eric (Dinan). He said that the port (bus) is the reason for the change in 2008. Otherwise, the software is basically the same. Dinan expects to be able to dealer install in the near future. In the interim, Dinan will same day ship back your computer. Dinan told that they did not find that BMW detuned the 2008 models. There will always be updates, most times for the better. At least 2008 owner's have far less fuel pump issues and other teething problems. |

Can you chime in on the supposed "reduced power" of the 08's? If you need thread links let me know and I can provide them if you haven't seen them already. |

Dammit...I wish my car has MOST. At least there are adapters out there to separate the clean audio signal from all the other junk.
In any case, DINAN has its own customer base and they are a good company. If DINAN provided same power as V2, I would pay whatever DINAN was asking to have it on my car. This is not the type of car to risk blowing up with resistor boxes. |

There is a simple answer....There should be plenty of 08's in circulation now to get dyno results....someone needs to post them so we can see results...
On 07's we have seen dynojet results from 265 RWHP to as much as low 290's. My 07 on dynojet = 278 RWHP corrected....It was 284 uncorrected on a 70 degree day. Nashville is approx. 500 ft above sea level..
