Underhood Heat - Maybe EGR leak too

Is the underhood temperature supposed to be extremely hot? I went to go look at something under the hood ~4 hours after running it, and it was still hot to the touch. I don't drive the car hard right now at all, so I'm guessing it was in the middle of a regen cycle, but it just seems crazy to me that it would be that hot.

I also took the engine cover off for the first time to look at my EGR area, and noticed oil in that area. Is this common? My guess is it happened after being worked on for an EGR recall or something. Hopefully I can get some history of that from the dealer this week.

Turbos get extremely hot, and these cars have two of them. Was there actual oil residue and build up, or was the EGR just discolored?

Any turbo car runs hot.
I found a bolt loose on one the EGR pipes, so check everything for yourself.

totally normal. If I want to work under the hood at all after driving I pop the hood and leave it for a couple hours. Will still be somewhat warm, but popping the hood makes a huge difference in how long it stays hot. Between the hood and the underbody panels the heat is pretty well trapped in there
