M3 Steering Wheel

Toying of the idea of changing my standard M Sport steering wheel as its looking a little tired and the usually peeling on the trim is pretty ugly.

The one I've got my eye on is this...

A tasty M3 steering wheel !

Question is, is it a straight swap ? I understand the airbag is the same and I can re-use it. Also, I've not seen an M3 steering wheel in the flesh, does anyone know if the thickness is the same as the standard M sport or is it more chunkier ? Any foreseeable fitting problems...

It's a fairly straight forward swop... I've got an M3 wheels and it makes a world of a difference. It's thicket than M Sport, much more grippy, soft leather and the tri stitching is a nice tough.

If you're local I'd be happy to do the swop over for you, but looks like you're in Manchester and I'm in Hampshire lol. Either way, it's an easy swop, airbag is the same - there's a guide if you run a search on the forum and it takes you through it step by step.. it's all I used.

I saw a M3 steering wheel on Ebay for £199, and claims to have no scratches, is that a good deal?

Yes - it's a standard price and seems a good deal if spotless so to speak. Obv if you currently have paddles then just ensure the new one comes with slots for paddles I better yet, m3 paddles +/- paddles

Does anyone know if the standard paddles will fit the M3 wheel?

I know the M3 paddles on a M sport steering wheel leave a small gap, so they must be a different shape?

Just purchased from eBay £199 inc P&P. Seller confirmed it was in mint condition and his feedback looks fine.

OP you have to use your original sterring wheel buttons for volume etc. If you use the m3 ones volume etc will work but the m3 paddles will not

Is M3 wheel compatible with 320 LCI SE as well? Or is it just M-sport?

Well it's taken me a couple of weeks to find some time and now its done today. A bit apprehensive at first but after looking at some videos on good old You Tube it was a straight forward process in swapping over the wheel.

The M3 steering wheel itself is in mint condition for a used item. After having a quick drive round the block, it feels really nice and I much prefer the smoother softer feel all round.

So I know you guys and girls like to see some pics so here they are :

Hi
Looking to purchase M3 steering wheel for my e92 330d auto 2006. Looking for someone near to Bromley or surrounding area Kent / Surrey who can swap for me to ensure good fit.

Thanks

You can also get Jack at Royal Steering wheels to retrim you a wheel to your exact spec for £100-110.

He will use a wheel in stock and then you send him yours back when you get the new one.

http://royalsteeringwheels.com

They are all the same wheels, just different thickness of padding and leathers.

I had my 16 year old Z3 wheel retrimmed, twice as thick and with perforated sides and nappa top, with m colour stitching....
