Front splash guards with stock M tech bumper
I remember another member mentioning that these can be "torn" off. Is this something that is commonly done? I've noticed that the splash guards tend to rub fairly often and it bugs me.

The front ones might be stuck to the bumper w/ plastic rivets. At least that's how they are for the sedan (mtech; stock is not even rivets, just screws). It'd be pretty easy to cleanly remove the whole piece, instead of just tearing or cutting them out -- in other words, they're not part of some bigger piece that must be torn off.

I think those are more for aerodynamics than splash guards. They sit directly in front of the wheels and re-direct the air so it does not run straight into the wheel. The effect is probably more pronounced at higher speeds but why remove something that has a use simply because it bugs you.
To your question, they are molded into the fender liners on our cars (LCI Msport). You would have to cut them to remove them.

I guess to say that they "bug" me isn't entirely correct. The fact is, that in a non-lowered vehicle, those plastic pieces make contact with the ground way too often. I've owned and driven many lowered vehicles, so by nature, I drive very cautiously when it comes to speed bumps, curbs, etc. And for a stock vehicle to rub more than other lowered vehicles I've owned is bizarre. |

I keep wondering what this car would drive like with a decent lowering suspension, but I can't ignore the fact that it might just drag those little flaps along the floor in that case. |

I have KW V1's on mine and I very rarely have those contact anything. Granted I do not have mine "slammed" like some folks like. I was just going for replicating the standard "sport" suspension that should have come on my Msport xDrive in the first place.

They get it all the time- second only to the front bumper underneath.
For some strange reason I can't avoid bottoming out with this damn car. M-sport looks great, but it sits too damn low... |

I'm barely lowered on eibach pro-kit and i rub those deflectors on speed bumps at my work underground parking garage all day long. it really is annoying -- makes me think it's rubbing some key component, then i realize it's just the rubber piece.
