Squeaky Brakes?
I have about 1500 miles on my car and my front driver's side wheel squeaks when I am breaking lightly, for example, while approaching a red light at ~1mph.
Is there any way this could be the brake pad wearing down? I have only had the car about 1 and a half months.... And sometimes, the brakes don't squeak at all. i'd say every 2 - 3 times driving out of 5, I would hear the braking squeaks for the entire endurance of the trip. Could this be water that just arbitrarily got into the brakes? Or is this the pad wearing down? I know this is a dumb question and should have it looked @, but I am really afraid of having to replace a brake pad b/c of the $$$$. Anyone know what one costs?

I actually passed by some woman today in her 335i and heard her brakes squeaking. It normally occurs between 20-30mph when you are on the throttle.. and especially if you are turning. Sound stops when you touch the brakes. People have said if you replace the pads it stops.. others have said it works for like 50-500 miles and it returns.. chalk it up to poor development associated with the first year of production.

Mine squeak and my friend's 328xi squeak too. I find that bedding them fixes the problem for a bit... and then the squeak comes back...

I went 9000 miles before they started squeaking. It wasn't until I killed half the life of the brakes at Laguna Seca that they started squeaking. It's been bothering me, but it's normal for BMW brakes to squeak.
