Just got my coils installed!
So after much anticipation, I pulled the trigger on purchasing a coilover kit and just had it installed yesterday. I'm blown away at the difference the coilovers have made on the car. The car completely feels stuck to the road and is handling like such a beast, it's incredible. I ordered an h&r coilover kit for an xi e92. Had it installed by e46_keith in Astoria Queens. So glad a couple people recommended e46_keith for the install. He banged it out in an hour and a half and that was with us talking the entire time throughout the install. The dude is so knowledgable and know his stuff when it comes to getting work done. Deff recommending him to anyone who is considering getting work done. The hour and 15 minute drive to him was well worth it, especially since he did the install for $150 and had it done so fast.
Here's a quick look at the car right after he finished the install |

Nice. Shops charging $500-900 for install on xi claiming it takes longer is just BS. First time I put a suspension in my xi I got anally raped by a shop here in Sacramento. They fucked it up royally too and they're a BMW performance shop with race teams! They put one of the rear tip spring pads on the bottom smashed on top of the other. Unreal.
Glad there are some people being realistic about it. It really isn't that bad of a job with the right tools! Car looks great bro! |

Shops are just so untrustworthy nowadays. I understand paying more money for a job, being that they have overhead to cover with owning a shop, but to say it takes 4 hours to do is a joke. I was going to have to drop my car off after work, and pick it up the following evening if I brought it to a shop. Not to mention pay about $400, and that was cheaper than most shops out there. Sucks to get raped by a shop and have them not even do a good job on it. But atleast you know never to go back to that shop. It's just unfortunate you had to go through that. My powdercoating place that did my wheels could not match the color when I bought a replacement wheel, they sprayed my wheel maybe 6 times and they were never even close any of those times. I waited 2 weeks until I just flipped out and made them do over my entire set for free just so they can match the color. I know how frustrating dealing with shops can be. |

Can't even tell you how many compliments I get on the car. It's the exact look I was going for and I'm in love with how everything came out, the coils were just the icing on the cake. Pulled everything together! Quote:
Real cool dude.. It's awesome to see so many forum members speaking highly of the dude. He's just into these cars and does right by us... His prices are the best, and he's passionate about working on these cars. And being able to watch him work on your car is a big plus. |
