Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, the best tyre out there?

Is there anything that can beat this tyre?

I am about to order this set and it seems to be the most expensive one out there, but of course it has great reviews.

Just wondering before i throw away $1400 if there is actually anything better out there?

For only sunny track days...you could always "upgrade" to the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups (basically racing slicks).

But...for the best everyday summer street tires (and money is no object) then it seems the best still is the Michelin PS2s.

Goodyears Eagle F1 G3-D3 may provide slightly better wet traction...but several users have complained about the quality control of the tires as they report flat spotting and uncurable vibration.

Yeah, I will not be going to the track, strictly for street use.

In the current tire market the Michelin PS2's [Non-RFT] are the best tire in my opinion. I've had Yokohamas and Pirelli prior, but the PS2's are the best by far. I bought two sets for ~2,600 and it was worth every penny. They're excellent in wet weather too, which really set the PS2's apart from the competition.

Best tire hands down. Not looking forward to the price, but I can't wait for these runflats to wear out!

I prefer the Goodyears Eagle F1s

I have had 3 sets and have had no problem

A friend of mine had the sidewall on his PS2 fold over while he was corning at 80 mph, which resulted in hitting a tree and braking his back, not to mention totaling the car.

I have heard on more than one occasion that the sidewalls are weak on the PS2

I've just swapped out my PS2s for a set of Bridgestone RE-01Rs. I liked my PS2s but want to try somethign different. (Tirerack puts the RE-01Rs in a different performance class than the PS2s. )

There's been quite a bit discussion on the new RE-01Rs recently and you might want to check them out before making your decision.

Please give your review of the RE-01R's compared to the PS2's. I'd like to hear it.

It's too early to tell. I've only had it for less than 100 miles. No canyon runs and track days yet. I'll post my opinions after spending more time with them.

Does anyone have the PS2 ZF (RFT)? Given their recent high price (looks like they have recently come down a bit) I would guess not.

I'm going to buy some PS2s within the next couple of months, just not sure which ones yet. Maybe you guys can help:

1) Does the ZP tire perform the same as the original? I would guess not, but how close are they? At least better than the stock Bridgestones?

2) Is spending a total of $182 more worth avoiding the hassle of calling a tow truck if one goes flat? That's a question only I can answer, but I don't mind hearing your thoughts.

This sounds interesting, but how is the driving feel with the RE-01Rs? That's what is #1 on my list. I had Pirelli P-Zero or something before and the car felt like it was floating on the road and it would tramline (sp?) with the road. I know the PS2 have excellent crisp feedback and drive straight. I am a little hesitant to try any other brand due mainly to this.

I~ll give the RE-01R a try. I've heard nothing but excellent things.

I am considering the ContiSportContact 3 vs. the PS2. That tire comes OEM on the RS4 and I think maybe even the R8 as well.

If I go with CSC I will save over $300 for the whole set, and that will cover the cost of my TPMS sensors and adapters. I just hope they come in 265/30-19 by the spring time.

The CSC3 is still relatively new, and the PS2 has proven itself time and time again.

I don't think you can go wrong either way

Are the RE-01 Ultra high performance summer tires? I know the SP2 are.
