Thinking of a 2011 335i, need help

I am thinking of buying a 335i soon, used. I was looking at a 2011 for about $35k (CDN) since it has the newer N55 engine and warranty. Do you guys think its worth it, or would it be smarter to get an older year (2008, 2009, 2010) and save a few thousand but have no warranty? I am looking at a coupe model specifically. I plan to use this car as my daily driver (insurance and gas isn't an issue), but just want to know if anyone else here uses it as a DD? Also, for a used 335i, whats good mileage to buy it at?

If I do get an older model, I hear they have common issues. Is it wise to get a 2008/09/10 or just better to stick with a 2011?

Thanks!

EDIT:
So I was just browsing through the BMW canada pre-owned page and came across these, what do you guys think?
1) http://crm.bmw.ca/en-CA/PreOwned/Sea...30#details-top
2) http://crm.bmw.ca/en-CA/PreOwned/Sea...18#details-top
3) http://crm.bmw.ca/en-CA/PreOwned/Sea...19#details-top
4) http://crm.bmw.ca/en-CA/PreOwned/Sea...50#details-top

I also looked through Autotrader and came up with these. My dilemma is... is the extra $10000 worth it for 2 years CPO warranty (for the 2011 models)?

Just so you have a ballpark number, I just purchased:

2011 335i Coupe M-Sport Automatic with 20k miles and the Comfort Package
Out the door $30k including a 3rd party 85k/7year extended warranty.

I regret not getting a standard but they were so hard to find with the 2011. I would recommend not buying anything over 30k miles unless you really want to keep the price down or you are getting a solid extended warranty.

Thanks for the reply!

Does your car come with xdrive? Being in Canada I am Specifically looking for xdrive only. Should have probably mentioned that in the original post.

And how does extended warranty work? If I buy the car from a private sale or non bmw dealership, am I able to get extended warranty?

I do not have xdrive, unfortunately I do not know much about average cost comparisons between the xdrive and normal 335i. All my prices are in USD by the way.

The warranty I purchased was EasyCare: Total Care for around $3k (BMW Gold Extended is normally $3k-$4.5k). I purchased my car used from a Chevy dealer and they offered me the warranty rolled into the finance so I grabbed it.

I haven't actually used the warranty yet so I cannot give you positive/negative reviews but you can research it and see if you like it.

No, a CPO should add no more than 3k to the price in my opinion.

Sorry, I worded that badly.

What I meant was, is it worth paying an extra $10000 for a 2011 model which has 2 years CPO included?

Prices I have seen:
2009/2010 for about 28k and 2011 for about 37k

Anything before 2011 has the n54 engine, which if modded correctly can outperform the newer n55 engine but does have some quirks. (some of which seem to have been fixed in the newer model)

If you are able to find a 2009/2010 with low miles and you can add a good extended warranty to it then you don't have to worry about anything breaking (because it should be covered if you got a good warranty)

It all depends on what you are looking for in this car. Would you like a car for DD that you will only be lightly modding, DD + heavy modding, track time, etc.

I want a day for DD + possibly lightly modding down the road (not a major concern if I can't mod it). Main purpose is for a DD (and I want x-drive because of Canadian winters).

Can you get extended warranty from any dealership? And typically what do they cover?

I would recommend getting a 2009/2010 from a dealership and requesting an extended warranty through them. The reason I chose Easy Care: Total Care is because it is BBB certified and is an exclusive warranty. (Meaning it covers EVERYTHING except for a list of small maintenance items listed)

The thing you have to watch out for is an inclusive warranty which means they cover only what they have listed in fine print (and only if you meet all the fine print requirements)

Take a look at the warranty I got and see if you can get it without dealer involvement.

Okay will do, thanks!
I will be going to test drive today to get a feel of the car. Do you know how the fuel pump warranty works? I heard it is for 10 years, but does it cover in Canada as well? Is there any other details I should know for a 2010 model?

Im looking at a couple that are around 29k CDN and have about 40000-50000km on it (pretty good imo). The problem is one that I really like is from a nissan dealership.. so not sure how warranty will work

PM'd you.

If you do not like the warranty options the dealership is offering you, call up your local BMW with the best reviews and ask them how much they will charge you for the BMW Gold warranty.

There are tons of threads on the forum on whether extended warranties are worth it, it is really up to you. My feelings on the matter are that if something catastrophic went wrong (10k+), I would not have the cash on hand to fix it and rolling a few thousand into my car loan is something I can afford.

So I found this one that I really like. It is a 2010 model and has about 45000km on it. Was owned by a cto of a hospital and looks like it was driven with care. The fuel pump has been replaced.

No accidents however there was an incident of a break in and had a MacBook stolen. What else should I know about this car before I seriously consider making an offer?
