Would you renew your BMW Assist subscription?
Hi All
My free 6 month BMW Assist (BMW ConnectedDrive) subscription is due for renewal in January at £120 for the year. I must admit that the ability to send Google Map locations to the car as well as your own through the www.bmw-assist-portal is really a big time saver compared to doing it the car with the iDrive knob. I have never yet had the need to call BMW Assist to ask for directions to a restaurant or other and the one time I did try it, it told me that “its operators were very busy at the moment, please try again later”. My question is how many of you would pay the £120 to renew it for a year? It still seems just that little bit too expensive to me as if it was say £50 it would be a no brainer. Also does anyone know what mobile phone network e.g. Orange, Vodafone that the hidden internal BMW Assist mobile uses when communicating? LRS

When I bought the car back in June, the BMW Assist came free for 6 months as standard.
I guess I missed an area for negotiation with this one.

Then when the 3 year trial came about I qualified, because mine was a 'new account'. In contrast, you should be the more valued customer, because you actually took up the service. I would be saying to BMW that it's simply unfair to expect you to pay £120 a year, when have offered it to everyone who hadn't previously signed up for free. I think if you push it they will give you the 3 years. In answer to the original question. I also think £120 is too much, which is why I didn't bother initially. The google map functionality is cool, but the info service isn't that special. |

Do you have any written/published reference to this? It would appear very unfair for those that activated their free 6 month BMW Assist service to only get 6 months free and for those that did not activate the free 6 months, can now get 3 years (36 months) of BMW Assist for free! Any reference to the 3 year thing would give me the right ammunition to go back to BMW with!! Thanks

My understanding is that when you buy a new car and your order BMW connected drive, the first 3 years subscription are free. Where people already own cars, but the BMW assist account has never been used, the 3 year offer also applies. It seems that the only people who are excluded are those who were already paying for the service. If this were the case I would consider it very unfair. I think some forum members may have got the 3 year free subscription after paying previously. Vivekk may be able to help further. Carl - you apply using this form and by phoning the number listed: http://www.bmwpersonalfinance.co.uk/...OGO_Sept05.pdf |

BMW Assist is now free until 2010, for all BMW Assist subscribers, irrespective of when you started your subscription.
You need to contact BMW Assist on 0800 5610 555 to confirm this specifically for your own account. I've covered all of the information concerning BMW Assist here & here. All the best. Viv |

Yeah i agree with above statement...i just did a change of owner on the website www.bmw.co.uk and it sent me a txt message to my phone and then messages to the car to say software was being downloaded after 3 days of submitting it online....simple really. and it works and using it is simple....

I just got a letter yesterday about renewing my Assist package since my 6 month trial period was up. I rang up the number and told the girl that I was aware it had been extended to 2010 and she was having none of it. She said it is only cars that were bought after Sept 07 that have the 3 year package and that the car price from Sept 07 includes the 3 year fee. I cannot have it since I did not pay it with the purchase of my older car.
So bugger that, they can stuff it!!
