DIY M47N2 "Rubber Boot" Fix
Hi guys,
since I had to use duct tape to keed the damn thing in place myself, I have decided to make replacement parts for the air intake hose in 3dsmax and print them (took 7 hours to print but used only ~£2 worth of fillaments to make instead of the ~£22-£25 for a new part). I guess some of you might need these as well. Part number 13717795284. You can download the STL file for free at Thingverse

My e90 has done 125k when I bought it and had the rubber boot taped on. I bought a brand new replacement from BMW parts store for, I think about £30?

Mine was imported from Italy with 216000 km driven. I guess the constant heat did it's part in ruining the floppy rubber ends.
How often it is put on and off again most should have an impact as well. In any case, it was hanging on one end only when I purchased the car, so I had to use tape to keep in place. Considered buying used, but it's in high demand (a lot of people have this problem) and hard to get, while a new one is just too expensive for a simple part like that. Since I have the skills in 3D modeling and a 3D printer lying around, this was the best solution in my case.

Mine failed too. Replacement part took about 4 months to come in. It's a new design which I'm guessing will fix the issue. Looks smarter in the bay too.
Not a bad idea if you have access to a 3D printer. |

It's really not that expensive, and the new upgraded part looks much nicer too
