Dood... you GOTTA goto Laguna Seca. Awesome track.
Here's my Laguna Seca experience: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99480 Looks like BMW CCA Golden Gate Chapter is going to book the track for Laguna Seca Driving School on January 21. http://www.ggcbmwcca.org/ Other track event companies that put on events there include Redline Track Events (http://www.redlinetrackevents.com) and Speed Ventures (http://www.speedventures.com).

Other places like Streets of Willow run about $130-150 or $270 for Saturday and Sunday. Willow Springs is about $180 or around $330 for Saturday and Sunday. So check out Redline Track Events (http://www.redlinetrackevents.com) or Speed Ventures (http://www.speedventures.com).

Thunderhill and Buttonwillow are great for newbies too since there's so much run off and seems a lot less intimidating without the walls.
Infineon isn't too far either. Most track days will run $150 on the cheap side to $300+ on the expensive side. Alternatively you can go to mini track events... autocross. Much smaller venues (parking lots) with cones setup and 1 car at a time. Cheaper at about $30 per day but less time on the track too. It's a few runs with each run probably only a minute long. Good way to get started though IMO.

Yup... Just to make it clear.... most tracks have some walls. But it's just if the walls are really close to the track (or at the edge of the track). But for Infineon and Laguna, yes.
