Don't Ignore A Knocking Engine

A 320D 2005 94000 miles FBMSH

As you can see its terminal, bearing shells distroyed don't need to mention anything else. Sad really as its been main dealer from day one Customer wasn't sure what the noise was sadly they know now.

Main dealer servicing presumably means CBS - in which case oil probably not changed as frequently as it should...

they screwed up on these motors. All these mistakes and all they recalled was fuel pump, and turbos/wastegate rattle.

I don't think this is an N47 engine.

2005 would be an M47 i believe

If you've got a service plan for instance they won't touch it until the light or time duration comes up for these engines its way way too long plus when looked at the breather valve was saturated air filter was IMO dirtier than I'd of expected. Engine of course is scrap. Replacement engine going in as its the only option.

And this is why I change the oil and filter between scheduled services and also change the air filter, micro filter, oil separator and clean the EGR as part of a regular 6 month or 8-10k mile maintenance program.

Yep and right now I'm looking at a 520D 83000 odd miles breather saturated, air filter not the best condition fuel filter never been changed as far as I can make out pollen filter dirty, BMW main dealer history to 50K another indy til we've seen it
