my ipod gets really hot
When the ipod is connected in the centre compartment it gets really hot.
Is this normal?

Yes. Doesn't your iPod get hot after running for awhile?

Maybe it gets hot because it's docked... I only listen to my iPod via the car or on my Bose Sound Dock. With both applications, the iPod gets quite warm.

I have never noticed my 80GB iPod Classic getting hot.
Do you have the center compartment vent open? I assume it's cold in Toronto and you have the heat running. Perhaps you have the heat vent open in your center compartment. |

Yep - that was going to be my suggestion. That's actually hard to remember... I try to do with with the changing of the clock. Fall = close the vent to console, Spring = open the vent..
