I have been planning on this all week. I'm off work at 5 in San Clemente. Then I would fight North county commute traffic all the way to La Mesa then I have to find my helmet. I hope it didn't grow legs and walk away.

If all that goes well, I plan on having fun with the 1/8th mile.

As long as I get through tech before they close it, I can show up whenever I want right?

racelegal.com puts on a great event. It was a lot of fun and beginner friendly. And, renting a helmet was no problem.

Their next event is Jan 4. It would been nice if I wasn't the only bmw on track next time.

What kind of times are you running down there? I have been wanting to take my car down there while it is still stock. I use to run my Cobra down there all the time but haven't been back since. I would be interested in getting together with other E90/92s next time out.

I just counted. I have 19 time slips.

For the most part, I was running 9.5s at 77mph. It took me many passes to get the idea of launching. Not that I have figured out how I should be launching, but I have a few ideas on how to launch the manual. My best of the night was 8.93 @ 86.37. All stock except for my custom, cracked fog light lens.

Honestly? I don't really know. The 2 shifts (finish the 1/8th in 3rd) were probably at about 6500. The quality of launch was so low, most runs, I was thinking about how bad the launch was instead of what exact RPM to shift.

RPM at launch was kinda a joke. I would get wheel spin in 1st at full throttle, regardles of an attempt at aggressive launch. I did have the traction control completely off. I don't know if that was wise, but that netted the 8.9. There was a lot of gentle throttle modulation. In hindsight, I probably should have taken some air pressure out of the runflats, but I don't know enough about drag racing to know how far to go.

Yes, by no means is Quallcomm a real track. Like you said it is a good place to have some fun with your car without being arested. If you can get good times at Qualcomm you could do even better at a real, well prepped track.
