BBK options
first do i and xi big brake kits fit each other? i know rotors and pads do but i didnt know if it was different for the calipers.
second are there any "cheaper" BBK options? most i see are $3k+. Its something i really wanna do but $3k...i can think of a million other way to put that type of money towards, car and non car related.

the xi platform is a little different when dealing with calipers, rotors, parking brake and the slave cylinder as well.
I was in a similar position and wanted a decent setup but didn't feel like spending $3k+ for a stoptech setup. After searching for a few months I got lucky. I ended up finding and fitting the bmw performance calipers made by brembo (even though people say they wouldn't fit). Only pic I have..rotors will be fitted by tomorrow:

i had to trim the heat shield. Rotors are slightly bigger and slotted. Also got ss lines and pads to complete the setup.

The info above is correct and mistaken.
The i and xi are nearly identical. I have a 2012 335xi. I have sourced my Stoptech BBK from a 335i. They bolted up just fine. The only thing(s) I had to do was cut down the dust shield (take 2 minutes), and get a SS brake lines for the FRONT, because the rears had identical part #s and bolts up the exact same. There is no difference between i and xi rears. Just the front, because we have AWD, obviously. Hopefully this helps. I was able to take a i BBK and transfer it in an xi with just those 2 methods. The brake dust shield is something you have to do with all BBKs; not just xi.

I thought the BMW performance brakes were considered to be downgrades for the 335. Smaller total caliper piston area and slightly smaller disc diameter from what I remember.
