Making both inner and outer angel eyes look even
Why can't someone create a bulb which has two different wattage led so that the inner and outer angel eye looks more balanced?
The outsdie leds would be stronger in wattage/lumens vs the inner leds. |

it doesn't matter how hi the wattage is. The problem is the inner ring has the bulb installed directly behind the ring, while the outer ring has to get its light by transmission thru the plastic light pipes coming from inner light.
one has direct lighting - the other indirect... |

There is no way to make the outer and inner AEs look the same. This is because of the inherent design of them. Light has to travel further in the light tube hence, decrease in emission. Only way is to get LED replacement from say OSS or another custom shop. It's not a direct swap. The housing shape is completely different.

OSS would be the cheaper route (from personal experience with my 2009 coupe.)
Luis's customer service is second to no one, and OSS craftsmanship is top notch- hell, I used to just lock and unlock the car for no particular reason just to watch those beautiful angels fade on and off |

It has nothing to do with anyone creating a bulb or not wanting to...
The headlights are DESIGNED by BMW to have light portrayed in this fashion. There is only 1 light source and the outer rings gather their light from a further point. Stock angel eyes are dimmer in the outer ring. |

Cant be done unless you get custom LED rings by OSS or Umnitza
It will cost you a lot of money though and be prepared to remove the bumper and open the headlights

I've noticed that the stock halogen bulb is more even than the led bulb replacements. I think its because the halogen bulb's light is less focused? has anyone ever tried using cob leds for angel eyes like these? maybe itll light the outer rings better since the light is more broadly distributed.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-3rd-GEN-H...c8c183&vxp=mtr or maybe something like this that has a longer led cluster? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-H8-120W-...3D251591874396 |

I see plenty of E90/E92 on the road with stock halogen angel eyes (including my own back in the day) and they are never even unless you look at them at eye level from about 30 feet away. The same principal applies when looking at the aftermarket options, they should be viewed from 30+ feet away at eye level. They are both never perfectly even and that's simply because of the inferior designs of the headlight from BMW. There are a few different thoughts on angel eye upgrades. Some will say it's a waste of a time on a plug and play system, others will tell you to go custom and others will just stay with stock. In my opinion the stock is atrocious and I would at least consider any plug and play option at a minimum. Although some of the less expensive options (such as ebay and amazon) have very minimal output and make the car look really cheap. Do some research and you'll find that most of the vendors options, including ours are fair in performance per dollar. If you are finding options under $70, I would question how good they really perform as there are some plug and play options under $70 that are as good as paper weights in my opinion. Also in your second ebay link that specific LED option uses asbestos in their wiring shields, I would highly recommend avoiding those. They also ship from China which is why they don't care. Last but not least there are few vendors that "over rate" their output and exaggerate wattage. Do some research on the vendors and check out their reviews. If you notice an abundance of negative reviews or any, you may want to reconsider who you purchase from. There are also some vendors who claim certain wattage but they actually combine both sides. The honest way of advertising angel eyes in my opinion should be each side. IE 40W not 80W total (including both bulbs). Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 08-04-2014 at 06:16 PM.. |

lux v3s were only a single led per side. i was thinking that the longer row of leds would help light get into the angel eye tubes better since the light source would be less focused. |

The broad display of light was not getting through to the light tubes as good as the focused beam patterns and closely packed LED's. I think the reason the stock halogens illuminate the outer better is because of that contrast. I remember seeing an E92 behind me the other day from an odd angle and I could barely see the outer ring of the stock halogen angel eyes. It really depends on the angle and distance viewed. (I tried to take a picture but I was driving haha). |

I just did OSS style headlight on my car and I was looking at the design of the OEM angel eye tubes and its trash. There is no way you can make them look as good as LCI primarily due to the design. I would recommend to save money with all the BS leds for $150 and invest into some good LED AE rings and do the DIY.. The total cost for the project for me was $140 and it really isn't that hard at all. If anyone in MA or around the area, I can help you out with the DIY, free of charge.

I had one that looked dimmer than the other. Pulled the bulb out, reached in and pulled the tubes closer to the where the bulb sits and reinstalled the led bulb. Looks pretty Damn good. Figured I'd share what I've found
