Discounts Done...

Just spoke to Drive The Deal about getting a new 330D Saloon from them, but they are not able to accept any more orders this year because of BMW UK's new discount strategy, and they arent really sure what's going to happen, damn!

Got 10% off mine 2 months ago. Best available now is 4.7% - resulting in £2000 more.

This can't do residuals any harm at all!

Their previous discounting of up to 16% (including finance bonus) was pretty damaging to residuals, so for people who own cars already this is good news.

I'm sure that they will be back in business next year with some strong discounts, but maybe not quite at that level. The dealers will still sacrifice some margin, for the sake of increased turnover.

However, it sounds like they were pretty much selling at a loss to brokers, then recovering that loss by way of bonus payments from BMW.

Suggest you don't buy now and pay top money! Hold out until next year and see how things pan out; big discounts may well reappear if they can't move the metal.
