Rb's with just jb4

Is there any issues with just running your rb's on jb4 stage1 all the time? I don't wanna race and not trying to make a shit ton of power. Basically got the rb's cause my stocks went bad and didn't wanna have to deal with the wastegate rattle anymore.
Mods I got:
Rb turbo
Jb4 g5
Bms dci
AA intercooler
Er charge pipe
Dinan exhaust

As far as I know from what I read think was on RB website one customer testimonial ran without a tune, just stock and car ran fine. I would not worry about it crank up the boost and have some fun also with your mods map1 ,2,5 all will work just fine.

There is no problem with doing that but you should enjoy them, the RB are much stronger and built better then the stockers, especially the WG.

I know it's not exactly the same but I'm running FBO + RB's using just the Procede Rev. 3 until I find someone to help with stacking a Cobb flash and the car runs great. I'm using the 'upgraded turbo' map for Procede and I'd assume there's a similar map for the JB and I'm very happy with the RB's. I replaced my OEMs mainly just because the wastegate rattle was very annoying they were still pulling hard but the RBs are a nice improvement. You'll be sacrificing some power over a 'protune' or stacked car but it will still be more fun than stock and no more wg rattle.

Wait a sec. Are you running RBs on stock downpipe? Or does the Dinan exhaust cover the dps aswell?

This is not needed, I specifically emailed Rob about this because this is what I plan to run next year,
You will be limited in power and you can’t stress out the turbos, he recommended to keep 20psi max

Although u might be right as far as the dp's not being a must, but I just don't see y u wouldn't upgrade the downpipes since ur already upgrading and opening up the turbos especially since the aftermarket downpipes are half an inch bigger than stock ones allowing a bit more airflow hence the little extra hp they add

Maybe he doesn't want his car to smell like a riding lawn mower?

A BMW should never sound like a civic on steroids or smell like a riding lawn mower... I had DP's on for exactly 2 weeks. I couldn't stand going to work and having my coworkers ask why I smelled like oil and I also couldn't stand the higher RPM exhaust tone the addition of DP's gave my exhaust. Just not worth the 20 or so ponies in my opinion.

E85 helps with minor smell issues. As long as secondary cats are left alone smell really isn't that bad. I personally would never run RBs without downpipes and I find it interesting that Rob Beck went along with this.

If the smell was such an issue maybe u shouldn't have bought a turbo car maybe a 328 What do u expect. Upgraded Downpipes on turbo cars is a preventive maintinence mod trust me I have a 85 rx7 track car pushing 45 pounds of boost

My 92 notch is catless and it smells like a lawn mower so I'm really not sure what a turbo has to do with that?

I agree... I probably wouldn't run RB's with factory DP's but if sounds like the OP isn't in the game of squeezing every pony out of his motor.

This is great. I'm not the only one that did this. I'm running map 3 and map 5 on the JB4 until I can also get the backend from Wedge or BMS. Car runs great and no more shitty rattle. I also love the sound of these spooling, even on start up you can hear them as she warms up. Winter is going to be fast approaching, so it's something I'll plan for next year. Car ran a 12.2@115 using map 3. Once the tune comes, 11.7 @ 125+ would be my goal.

The WG's were in pretty bad shape just after 50K on the OEM turbos.
