Super cheap catback exhaust idea (with video clip)
I was on the hunt for a catback exhaust but i didn't want to spend the typical 1000 dollars that everything on the market costed so i decided to do a super cheap custom catback. I am not saying that you will get near the performance or quality out of something like this as you would with a bmwpe, or supersprinter etc. but for the cost i am extremely pleased with the sound and performance of it. Disima tips- 160
2 magnaflow mufflers-150 2.5 inch stainless steel piping from cat back and install cost-200 all said and done cost me around 500 installed, a absolute steal compared to other exhausts on the market. Once again I'm not saying it compares to other exhaust on the market but if you are looking for a cheap alternative i think it is a great option. let me know your thoughts on my set up. (Video clip to show you sound on N55 2011 335 also catless dps) |

Yeah, do the PE muffler mod on your stock system for free to $250 depending on how much you can do yourself.

Sounds good. I totally agree with the excessive cost of the car back systems. I understand there is a lot of research that goes into tuning them for the perfect sound, but I can't justify it either.
I just did what you did too. I ordered some black powder coated 4" double wall tips off eBay for $80/pair. Then listen to about every muffler clip I could find on YouTube and decided on Birla Pro XS centet/offset. They cost $150 shipped for the pair. Got the shop to weld everything for axle back up for $160. About $400 in and I'm very satisfied. It's a little quitter than I expected, but has the perfect deep rumble I was after. Cold startups are perfect, then it settles to being barely louder than stock. After I get around to downpipes I have no doubt it will be exactly what I'm after. I live in a neighborhood and didn't want it too loud, just enough to growl as I pass by. |
