CPE Cast Catless Downpipes- anyone running these? Thoughts?

I'm about to pull the trigger on some CPE catless DP's for my xi. They look to be a new design with cast ends. Pricey compared to VRSF but they are back ordered and not expected in for another week. I'm impatient and want to install ASAP having waited close to 2 years to go catless (ca smog first time last month).

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this new design/build (i or xi)?

I could be wrong but it seems that the catted were the ones that were redesigned. Mine are a couple years old and look just like these.

Yeah maybe it is just the catted that are redesigned. The second set of pics are the non cat and they have the cast ends on them.

Thanks for the reply and feedback!!

I saw a set of these in person, and the quality looks to be extremely good. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a set if I was still in the market for some pipes.

They both were redesigned and the c@tless version is even better than the originals.

I have the original CPe DPs and the fittment is excellent and the power gains are very nice. No issues.

Given the pricing of VRSF and no quality problems with VRSF I don't think its worth the cost difference. I've been happy with my VRSF for over a year now.

CP-E is excellent quality and we sold quite a few until the hole BMS/CPE CA debacle.

That being said, waiting a week for a less expensive quality product like VRSF is really not that big of a deal.

I'd at least make sure the CP-e is also in stock because some websites claim items are "in stock" but that is typically used for marketing purposes; then they tell you days later if at all that it's not in stock.

Good gains? I'm tempted to grab the Ultimate Racing Catted xi DP's for sale here used. I like the idea of *some* cats. Worried about smell....

Thanks for the feedback, fellas.

I'd agree with you on waiting but I paid on the 5th and they're still not sue in for another week at least from the latest. I'm jonesing for DP's (that sounds terrible lol) and want them NOW!

if you have secondary cats or planning on not taking out the secondaries go with the c@tless as there's more power and the smell is not really present. On the E90 the resonator really helps keep the smell down to almost nonexistent.

also, c@tted downpipes don't ensure passing emissions. Plenty of folks have failed emissions inspections with c@tted dps.

+1 there is no point of catted downpipes unless you are going to remove the secondaries, you will get no smell as long as the secondaries are there, the catted ones will still throw codes as none of the high flow cats anyone uses are good enough to stop codes (except the 2000 AR ones with the high end special order cats or if you have ancient software, pre 29.2 would not throw codes on aftermarket cats but I don't think a singe N54 has old software anymore as the software was part of the HPFP recall and all cars are updated by now)

You will fail emissions with catted unless you have a DPFix installed or if you only need to pass a tailpipe test as the secondaries will pass a sniffer test without the primaries.

I was originally going to go catted for the purpose of passing OBD emissions, but ended up going catless.

No way in hell im paying 1000+ for catted pipes when they provide inferior performance and still won't get me through emissions.

The cp-e downpipes with Highflow catts are 200 cells. Gains I am pushing over 400 whp no meth.

Sound: Having all four catts still on the car its just perfect, no complaints

I've had the cp-e catless pipes for some time now and when you get them you will be wowed by the quality construction. The cast bell-mouth provides a super smooth transition around those bends right off the turbo. I run the VRSF v2 exhaust and the sound is simply divine.

I have never complained about any smell. Maybe the wind always blows the right direction at intersections or maybe I'm just lucky, but the only time I've smelt the exhaust is in the garage or standing behind the car...

Thats not the only benefit for going with high flow catts. Going cattles you are taking the following "RISKS"

Drone
Rasp
Smoke
Smell
Tin Can Exhaust sound

As you noticed I said RISKS as it is a hit or miss or eventually it catches up to you at a later time. For me going with high-flows had nothing to do with "emissions" as I live in South Florida it more so to do with eliminating the RISKS.

Take heed it cost more money later to FIX the dislikes.
