Should I back off timing or leave it (logs)
Mods are BT flash, 5" intercooler, drop in filter and E35 on these runs. I/You obviously can only see cyl 1 (consider the whole log). Should I back off timing (or boost and leave timing)? not necessarily getting big drops but not exactly topping out fully either. In your humble opinions am I approaching the danger zone. I backed off a degree or two here and there but it didn't feel the same so I went back to this.
Both logs complete with go to jail 3-4 shift (no I don't shift past 6500rpm except for logging). http://datazap.me/u/stanlalee/august...-11-16&solo=11 http://datazap.me/u/stanlalee/august...log=0&data=5-7 |

From what I can see it looks pretty solid actually.
If you are experience a lot of correction and or 3 degree drop in ignition that would be an indication of too much timing. Your values seem very odd though in some areas: Do you have the normal values for boost pressure, intake air temperature and ignition correction? |

BT tool uses Celsius so ambient temp is 74.3 deg F. One log reaches 113 deg F at 6500rpm and the other about 117 deg F. The end temps of both logs are 129 deg F and 132 deg F respectively. Those are after 6800/7000rpm shifts well into 4th gear. I didn't log correction, only cyl 1 ign angle but there are only a few 0.38 and 0.75 dips so if 3 deg is the standard for problems I guess I'm in the clear. Ign adv is in common terms: Up to 12.7 deg of advance on one log and hit 13.5 on the second log. There is are a few 0.38 and 0.75 dips in advance so I guess that's not significant? and if curves are odd its because I've basically frankenstein'd OTFs e40 map to something more suitable for my mods. Ignore adaptation mutiplication (fuel trims) below 5000rpm. NOBODY can explain why they stay in the 90% range and magically instantly drop to normal at 4500rpm. SteveAZ said fuel pressures looked normal and lambda is normal so I'm ignoring it. |

A 3 degree drop in ignition is considered a knock event. Only problem with logging 1 cylinder is cylinder 1 is the quietest. It's best to stay on the side of conservative when only cylinder 1 timing is available as the others are typically a bit hotter. |

Thanks, the 3 deg rule is good to know. While I can't log but 1cyl timing I THINK I can log correction on all 6 cyl so that will be next. Whatever the case power feels snappy!

Ive dabbled with BT tool in the past but not much. I thought there was some way of seeing something about the other cylinders. It's been like 4 years since I dabbled with it though. |
