So I hade the crappie base stereo without the tweeters and installed the alpine retrofit. I did not recode the head unit. The rear speakers have almost no sound. I even tried replacing them with some 93db sensitive Kenwood and still nothing. If I recode the head unit will this help with the rear speaker levels?

Your rear speakers are powered by max 15W. The front and woofers are powered by max 50W+. That's why.

something else seems wrong. are you saying if you fade to all rear you don't get much? if so seems like a wiring problem. even the hifi head unit (no amp) can power the rears to where they are definitely audible for rear fill type application.
