OVer boost pushed my dying coil packs to the end!
Third car i've installed a jb4 on where the coil pack went out withing minutes.
I guess if you have one going bad, and want to know for sure, install a jb4 lol EDIT / UPDATE THIS was posted quite awhile ago, when i wasnt very up on the way this stuff worked, Jb4 didnt kill my coils, it just pushed old ones over the edge. Not the JB4s fault.

Pretty sure any tune will do it, but yes adding more boost and getting more power will show the engine's weakness really quick.

I've installed two JB4's and never had a problem with a coil pack. Though the first time, I smoked my spark plugs and the second time I changed the plugs preemptively.

Shoot, with 110K of course adding a tune will cause a stock coil to go. They are lucky they lasted that long in the first place

Me and 13000 members have JB4 with no coil pack issues lol.. The luck on your cars isn't very good i assume. Replace and move on.

my car threw a code when I test drove it with the previous owner. he took it to a shop, got 6 new plugs and a coil.
I stayed quiet, smiled, got a great deal on the car, and installed jb4 the next week. lol |

Its not really luck, honestly the fact that 6 stock coil packs lasted 110k miles is impressive on its own, and that i only had to replace one (54$ from autozone :P) And it took me about 20 minutes. Easy day haha

What coil packs do you replace them with if they fail? Bosch? How about the one step colder NGK iridium plugs, what gap do we set them too? Thank you

How does a tune affect the coils? As far as I know, the tuNE can just change ignition timing which shouldn't be any harder or easier on the coils, it just changes when they fire. Or can the tune change the duration or intensity of the fire?
