JB4 changing maps by itself

hey guys, my JB4 has been set to map5 for a while and last night I randomly checked it and it was map5 but today when I checked it was on map4 :// I'm the only one that drives it and only I have the keys for it.

what do you guys think?

You hit the safety mode:

Quote:
"The JB4 has several active safety systems that will trigger SES light flashes.

The first is the over-boost safety. If boost exceeds the value you've set under user adjustment the SES light will flash once and the JB4 will switch itself to map 4 until you restart the car. The default setting is 18psi. Common causes for this are setting the value too low for the map/intended usage, improperly configured or defective wastegates, or JB4 setting problems.

The second is the run-lean safety system. If your air/fuel ratio (either bank) runs leaner than 14:1 over 4500rpm for more than a second the SES light will flash twice and the JB4 will again switch itself to map 4 until you restart the car. Common causes are maxed out fuel trims (see E85 notes above) or o2 sensor faults. Note any o2 sensor fault must be corrected for the tuning to operate properly.

Another commonly triggered fault is low fuel pressure. If your high fuel pressure drops below 7 (~800psi) the JB4 will flash the SES light three times and switch to map 4 until you restart the car. Common causes are an inadequate low pressure pump, too strong of an E85 mixture for your tuning/fuel pump, or a failing high pressure pump."

I've personally had a lot of trouble staying on Map 5. Mine switches to Map 4 on WOT due to high AFRs.... still looking at fixing this through logging and resetting adaptations etc

With the JB4 set to blink twice once car is warmed to operating temperature, will it still blink to tell you the car is warm if it has reset to the safety map 4??

Still blinks as Map 4 has jb4 still active.

Only Map 0 (should) fully disables jb4 and returns to stock like function - aka no fuel highjack and warm up indicators etc

As 7smurfs noted above, it's doing it as a safety mechanism.

Noticed you're already running the BMS flash which was what i was actually going to recommend.

ok this is starting to piss me off now, I can't hit boost AT ALL without my car changing to map4, I guess I'll talk to active this week, ordering CP andBOV soon, don't know if that'll fix the issue tho, and I swear I've looked and don't see any flashing lights after it changes to map4

Post a log so we can see what it's doing before it switches to map 4. Logs are your best friend in this scenario.

You either have a boost leak or you IATs are getting too hot. Do you have an intercooler?

For me Map 5 had timing drops all over the place with bp ultimate. FBO stock turbos.
it is too aggressive for our fuel. yes its an auto tuning map but the lowest boost will be around 15psi which is too aggressive for our pump fuel.

BMS flash or pro tune is different

(this is was on my FBO stock turbos) With the bms flash via bt cable, menu 4-2(flash boost 15psi and better torque down low) I could just run map 2 with cleanish looking logs. Could not run map 5 still as IAT's got around 120 end of 3rd

i've got the BMS flash done and I'm also running BP Ultimate. And it just happened again on the way home from work. SES light flashed once which would be overboost. Active did my BMS flash so I'm just taking it to them again and she what the issue is. I'm ordering ER CP with Tial BOV on wednesday so i'll see if that fixes the overboost issue, before the car was holding the boost until about 5k rpm which is would suddenly drop (vacuum lines or CP are cracked according to steven at active) So it's an excuse to get the ER CP and a BOV haha.

I think the stock CP and DV's are totally gone and need replacing.

I finally managed to fix my map 5 issues lately by doing the following:

Upgrade to latest HEX 28.3
Reset adaptations

This worked for me as even after changing coils/plugs, it was still kicking me down to map 4. Try it before anything else!
