Chicago V1 radar detector users

Do you guys disable your X band? is x band still used in IL? Just wanted to confirm before i reprogram my V1.

I usually leave it in the small "l" mode.

Thanks

I've read that IL is one of the few states that still has a large installed base of X-Band gear, but I don't have a detector myself so I can neither confirm nor deny that bit of trivia.

I think you should disable the X-band. Mine goes off like crazy and its never a cop.

vbmw335, how are you liking your V1 so far? I leave mine in lower "L" and adjust the two volume knobs. The newer model will tell you pretty quick if it's bogus.

I'm thinking about picking one of these up also, not sure if its worth the extra cost over the escort 8500 though.

Tim,

I love it so far. I have disabled the X band after a lot of research - hope that's alright.

omg516,
I don’t necessarily think the V1 is better than 8500 in terms of its sensitivity ...but the arrows are worth the extra dollars in my opinion. I had the 8500 for about 10 days and returned it.

Think about it this way…you can buy the V1 for 400 new or refurb for $350 and sell it on Ebay for $350 even after 2 years and get something better if any…its resale value and arrows are worth the extra $100
.

Ive disabled X and use the capital "L"ogic mode with great results. In my area, every X signal was a false alert.

I also have an 8500 and tested both side by side for a few weeks before deciding to keep the V1 in the 335. THe 8500 now resides in the wife's truck. The sensitivity is identical but the arrows make it a sharper tool to combat speed traps.

I have a V1 here in Chicago and I have not disabled the X-Band, though I think I will soon since I have never discovered a cop on X.

They really need to incorporate GPS into the V1.

I got the Beltronics RX-65 pro. It works well. It goes off like crazy and senses everything! I just plugged it in, I am going to read the manual when I get off my lazy ass.
