I guess nobody does, but I've got them on my watch list too.

For slotted only I'm also looking at these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360905343963...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I've had them on my car for 1 year with around 25,000 miles. They look and stop great. For the first 6 months, they were awesome. Now for the last 6 months they have become very noisy. Mine give off a semi grating sound when doing a medium speed stop. Hard or slow stops are ok for the most part "sound" normal. Like I said, they stop like they should so I've lived with the sound. It doesn't bother anyone else just me.

They have been checked by 3 different shops, 1 being the BMW dealer in Lexington and none can find anything wrong. All say "go back to OEM and it'll go away."

@steel609:

It's not unusual for slotted rotors to have some 'noise' associated with them. After all, you're constantly wiping away pad material with the rotor, sort of like a cheese grater. That will inherently result in some noise. Here's an excerpt from the Tirerack site: NOTE: Sport disc brake rotors will produce some additional noise. It's not uncommon to hear a whirring noise as the brake pads rub over the dimples, drill holes and grooves while driving. While some noise will remain, its level will become less noticeable as the rotors and pads break in. Here's the link to the whole article: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/tech/....jsp?techid=78

What type of pad did you use with these rotors?

Have you done any HPDE's, Autocross or track days with these rotors?

I read that too, my noise got worse over time, but it is inconsistent.

Kinetic Ceramic Pads - came with the kit.

Nope. Just daily driving, mostly highway.

I have torn down and reset everything 2 times just to make sure it's nothing I may have overlooked. Pad wear is perfectly even on both sides.

I changed out the OEM set almost as soon as I bought the car, so I don't remember how the OEM sounded. I'm going to swap back to the OEM rotors and pads to see if that makes a difference.

I appreciate your input.

I've had them for nearly 2 years so probably around 20-22k miles. I haven't had any issues with them. They work just as good as stock and they make alot less dust. My wheels used to get dirty in a few days with the stock brakes now I can go weeks without cleaning them.

I figured dust would be worse.
What pads did you use?

Before you put the OEM rotors back on, just put the OEM pads on with your drilled/slotted rotors. Bed them to the rotors and then see what your noise level is. That way you can maybe isolate the source to the type of pad.

Good point. The new pads are ceramic, while the OEM pads are semi-metallic. Worth a shot.

I ended up getting the BRAKEMOTIVE eBay rotors and PBR/Axxis metal master pads.

Now at three years and rotors still look shiny and new.
