E90 LCI Halogen to E90 LCI Xenons?
Hi guys, I need some help and advice. I have the opportunity to purchase a complete set of E90 LCI xenon headlights with the LED dynamic unit.
My car is a 2009 E90 LCI M Sport which came with halogen headlights from factory. I was wondering whether this headlight swap would be a simple and direct plug and play replacement with no issues with any error codes or other faults? If it's not a direct plug and play swap, what else is required to get them to function without any issues on my car? Any help would be very much appreciated. |

Definately not plug and play
From what i understand you need to run new wiring for them, you also need a certain module but i dont really understand all of it, depends if they come with ballasts and bulbs if not they will cost you alot of money. You need the link for the adjuster from the headlight to near the control arm. All will need coding aswel, also some mot garages wont pass it without having headlight washers in the bumper, which i doubt yours has got as its halogen, alot of work involved if you dont have the know how and have to pay someone to do it for you. Someone else should be along to tell you exactly what you need |

I've recently done this, it is a lot of work but plan to do it over a few weekends,
You need wiring harness loom for sensors and headlights that connects to frm module, you will need a frm2 or frm3 xe module which is what controls the lights and level sensors although some say the standard frm can be coded mine couldn't, and obviously headlights, bulbs and ballasts etc.. You can sell your old headlights for about £280 so you recoup about half the cost, if you can get the lights fairly cheap! I didn't bother with headlight washers I emailed vosa and what they said was if they are fitted they need to work.. Here's the guide I used http://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/att...2&d=1197218405 |
