Shadow codes (INPA)
So I have a few shadow codes that maybe I shouldn't have or thought should have been cleared....
The car has been into the dealer for a new wheel since the mileage stamps on them. The SA said they tried to clear some codes then then but couldn't get them to go away and I'd have to rebook to get my speed sensor stuff reset. I took this as the facilities the tyre dept had with regards to diagnostics were maybe not that advanced and they didn't have the ability or authority to start resetting modules. From my memory the codes roughly start from the point it had its last major service making me think they were all cleared when the oil was done and these have accumulated since. If the dealer had hooked the car up and found codes would they have cleared them? For a new wheel would they have hooked the car up to systems that may report codes to a centralised location? |

Usually, the tyre department is within the workshop, in a corner or something.
They shouldn't hook it up for a diagnostic with a tyre change. As part of your service, they'll hook it up and reset all fault codes, and should inform you if there's any (and rebook you back in). |
