Btw...this was a serious question. Each BMW I have ever been in has had the leatherish smell like they come from the dealer. Is there a way to keep that?

I believe a decent amount of forum members have agreed that one of the closest "aftermarket" scents to the BMW smell is Squash. Which sounds a bit odd, but if you get one that isn't overpowering then it smells very refined.

I find that the smell seems to return after a clean the leather with Leatherique Prestine Clean. The leather is the most prevalent smell inside the car.

I clean and condition my leather seats almost once a month, and the smell is very close to the new car smell (I think). I use Lexol cleaner and conditioner, nothing special, but I like the matte finish that it leaves behind.

The lexol is what I was going to pick up soon. When i decided to fix a couple worn places I will use the mentioned leatherique dye stuff.

In addition to a leather protector/conditioner most people use an air freshener of some sort, Squash (the vegetable) is a great scent choice to maintain OEM smell.

Here is a previous Thread, and here is an Amazon Link to the Squash Air Freshener.

Zaino Z9 and Z10. Keeps the seats clean and conditioned. Everyone tells me how good the inside of the car smells.

it's so funny because the GF hates the smell, however I LOVE it! lol. I would assume to keep the windows closed as much as possible.

Lexol smells nothing like 'leather', IMO. And I also don't think it works all that well although others claim otherwise.

Zaino is my go to and it has that 'new leather' smell.

I've heard good things about Zaino. My Lexol is about halfway through. I'll probably try them out when the Lexol stuff is gone.

Agreed! Zaino for days. Love that stuff. I've converted quite a few people as soon as they smell my car.

I used to use Zaino for waxing my car, but these days I just prefer to go pick up most of my items like this instead of ordering online and waiting forever on my order.

How strong is the smell? I generally don't like to be able to smell anything at all in my car. Is it a very subtle smell?

The dealer I bought my car from put these stupid air fresheners all over the car and I've been trying to air that scent out since I got it

I don't even know. Just stereo typical air freshener scent lol. They were these little rectangles that were like green vented plastic wrapped around some type of scented paper.

The smell is starting to fade. I'm going to vacuum that car and clean the seats with leatherique PC this weekend and hopefully that will help some more. I've always found a good interior cleaning, regardless of the products used, helps to get rid of or at least minimize smells.
