anyone figure out how to get rid of idle issues with catless dp yet?
I remember this being discussed a few months ago but don't think anyone had figured out a solution. Now that it's getting colder again, I am noticing more and more idle issues and it's pretty annoying. I've tried setting FutureUse E to 60 (not sure if that even still applies) but that did not help anything. It actually made the idle issues worse.
I have the FF wires and my mods are in my sig. Any input is much appreciated. |

I actually removed my dp about 1.5 months ago, in anticipation of some warranty work (which I keep putting off) and am still experiencing those same idle issues; increasingly so as the weather gets cooler. Starting to wonder if it's not just a dp thing.

I haven't experienced any issues with idling. What exactly is the issue you're having?

I kind of wondered if a Cobb AP might fix that. |

It idles much better when I'm running e85 but there is only one gas station and it's a ways away. I also don't want to have to rely on that for a smooth idle |

When you remove the jb4, does it still have that problem? If so, I would do that and bring it up to the dealership.

BMW has numerous notes on new ROM versions resolving the idle issue. Take her in if under warranty and say idle issues and you saw the bulletin. If not under warranty take to a known bmw shop to have the dme flashed with the newest ROM; its basically a firmware update if you understand IT at all. Should cost 160-180 - well worth it esp if iDrive as that comes with revisions as well.
Also depends on some other factors. jb4, jb4 iso? if so what jb4 version? FUE should be 0 during the warmer months, e85? if so, how much?...etc. |

Quick update: I've been working with Terry to get my idle issues figured out and it looks like they are finally gone! He sent me a couple of firmware revisions and had me change some of the settings and now the idle is perfect and the car is awesome to drive!

Hm I can assure you guys it is not cause of downpipes. My buddy had rough idles like you mentioned and car would actually stall out (DCT). After dealer visit for some warranty work and a update the idle problem went away...

On the N55, a catless downpipe is actually what causes them or at least can cause them, especially for people that live in a colder climate (like myself). I didn't have issues when it was summer either but now that it has gotten cold again, they came right back. The car runs a bit too lean to support a catless dp. Luckily Terry is the king of customer service and knows his stuff inside and out and was able to solve the issue with a few firmware tweaks and setting changes.

I wouldn't consider that being related to downpipes... Unless someone has solid proof I won't buy it
Edit: sunny San Diego here and my buddy always had the idling issue in 100 degree weather. |

before the dp i had no idle issues. As soon as the dp went on I did. Not sure it gets any more black and white than that. Multiply that by several people that have experienced the same exact thing and there's your definite proof.
