update the firmware... if it is in boot mode it will allow you to do this even though it shows that the proceed is not connected.

What com is your serial cable? If it's 4 it should connect. Make sure com 4 is what you need to set procede at.

select comm 4 THEN plug in the cable. Push the start button twice without pressing the brake. Silly question, but have you unplugged the bypass plugs and connected the PROcede back up?

did you install the drivers for the cable? what operating system?

If its a radio shack cable, then go and get yourself another cablle...I had the same issues...Before you go crazy, go to Bestbuys and buy yourself a DYNEX cable and i think your problems will be solved...I personally went through the same thing your going through...Your computer is not compatible with the radio shack cable....ask yourself " how do i even know you have this cable" Its because what u are describing is the same exact thing, as soon as i bought a new cable and uploaded the drivers, it instantly worked!!!

i spoke to him earlier today and he stated it does indeed connect and prompts for a firmware update. at the end of the update it just hangs for like 20 minutes, he said the whole thing just shut down at one time. (laptop) he can't get it past the 100% firmware part.

glad u fixed it...most of all the problems not being able to connect to Procede is indeed the cable...Radio shack for one is where most of us have problems, but for those who have success with the cable are far less than the one's that have problems...In your case the Belkin cable
