Private Reg Question
Guys
Searching for a private plate for my current car. Looking for something with SAM in it. There are few on ebay with XXXX SAM Does anybody know how much do they go for? I had 'S3 XXX' 5 digits plate on my last car. If I go for something like that with SAM, then prices are silly. Am I better off having SAM with lots of digits or shall I aim for meaningless plate with less digits in it? Thanks.

SAM 6R is going to auction on 26th November & only has a £450 reserve, although it'll go for a lot more than that.
What are your intials? Can't you get something with S4 M** in it? My surname is Maddix, I have M444 DXX which was the closest I could get! |

My name is Jon and that's just an obvious no go, prices are through the roof just like with Sam.
If I use the first part of my surname and go for DUX there are loads available and dead cheap! Could you not look for MAK or anything instead? |

I think there was a plate with SAM but with something like GX58 SAM and it went for £700. I think its still massive dough for 7 digit plate. Quote:
My last private plate was my first name and surname. (kind of in my head) You have a nice plate mate. Quote:
Thanks. I have a feeling that it will go above £1500 but love to have it. Quote:
I can see lots of questions coming my way, why did you buy Mak? But nice suggestion though and will have a play with different names.

I had the same problem looking for Russ, or anything similar - even anything RU55 obviously.
I decided initials would probably be better, so was quite happy with my R55 RDJ which was sensible money. (then also picked up R44 CMJ for the wife's X5, so look kinda cool on the driveway) |

there's BM54 AAM - which might work with some creative spacing?! BM 54AAM
It's £250, incase you're wondering (and that will be all in,transfers and everything) http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov....0AAM&price=250 Last edited by Russbmw; 10-10-2014 at 04:19 AM.. |

i had same problemm, SAM6R would probably go for in excess of 4k Stick to as many less letters as possible I just had look for you S44M and 2 letters after all 250£ Go for something like S14M at the start and you have to have 2 letters after of your choice. S14M are all £250 Or go for S9M and 2 letters after of your choice. 9 is closes thing to A but S4M is all taken, S9M plates all are £250 p.s you will have to mess with spacings to make it look nice, this is not really 'illegal' as everyone does it, as long as police can ready properly no problem. |

But as confirmation, it is illegal and now incurs points as well as a fine AFAIK. |

Ive had mates stopped for illegal spacing and just got a warning. Nothing major either, something like B6N LE, as his name was Ben. But they did say if it happened again they would get fined!

JUL 6S went for £3500 the other day, Wasn't to bad a price but out of my range.
I've found my year and month of birth but thats £2400 reserve. At least it's something relevant to me though. But I've already bought a plate for the bmw as well so not sure whether to go for it, hopefully it'll go for big money and I won't be gutted. |

Personally I think number plates with lots of number/letter look naff or gimmicky ones that try to spell something. Just go for as few letters and number that mean something to you!

My plate is in the form X3 XXX. To everyone it's just random, to those that know the first 2 digits are the month and date of my son's bday. Last 3 digits are his name initials.
This could be an option for you. |

here are a few plates with the number 5 followed by AM to spell Sam, pretty cheap too.
