AC Compressor Help
So the other day I had a whole lot of rattling going on under the hood. At first I thought it was the lifter issue that seems to be a big deal with this version of BMW. Well it turned out that the AC clutch came apart and the rattle was the pulley coming off. Well it threw the serpentine belt. I want to fix it temporarily by not hooking the AC back up. What I would like to know is if anybody here has ever done that or if it is even possible. I put a pic of what the pulley situation looks like.
Thank you in advance. |

I don't know that you could temporarily repair this unless you bought a shorter belt to compensate. I believe you will, however, need a new compressor as the pulley isn't a traditional type that engages/disengages from it. It is a variable displacement compressor, so I believe that the pulley and compressor are essentially one unit.
