Arrow What Engine Oil Are You Using?

after mixed thoughts on which engine oil to run i want to run a poll and see what you guys are using and what weight. i still don't know what factory weight is and i get mixed people using 0W-40 and 5W-40.

I just dropped the oil for the second time and used BMW synthetic 5w-30 this time. First oil change (@ 1,500km) I used Mobil 0-40, but it's too cold here to run that in the winter (don't need 40-weight oil at -30C).

I'm anal about oil changes, and will likely continue to change it every 5000km. BTW .... the oil that came out this last time (at 6,500km, with 5000km's on it) was very dark / dirty. While I'm sure there are some here that believe synthetic oils only need to be changed every 15-20K km's, I'm more concerned about contaminants in the oil that reduce its effectiveness. The cost of an oil change is cheap compared to the piece of mind I get

Mobil1 0w 40.

Worked great in my GLI and works great in my 335.
My engine loved to drink up the castrol 5w 30, but I haven't needed to add any 0w 40.

+1 on Elf Solaris. Not sure if it's due to the cooler autume weather, but the car ran slightly cooler after the change.
