Engine is often weak

Hi guys,

I am having a problem with my 2008 BMW E90 320d N47 135,000mls on the clock, it has just come back from BMW after having a timing chain replacement and other parts replaced which cost me a staggering £4000. Recently i have noticed when driving it for example, if i am in third gear, when i put my foot down there is no pull there what so ever, it does not do this all the time though most of the time it works, its just a pain in the backside when you are trying to overtake and the revs are really slow climbing.

Anyways cut the long story short.. I took the boost pipe off the car the other day because i noticed there was oil spray marks on the drip tray, there was a bit of oil coming out of the boost pipe but not a lot what so ever.

I am just wondering if anyone would know what it could possibly be? because its doing my head in now.

I do remember that BMW put new 0w 30 Castrol engine oil into the car, but it was over max on the dipstick, could this have caused some oil to come out of the Oil seal on the turbo?? I am unable to see any smoke coming out of the engine.... think its because of the DPF

Your suggestions/opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a sticking actuator on the turbo. Not really a big or even that unusual of a problem. Look under the hood and find the rod that goes into the turbo actuator. Have a friend get in the car and turn it on. If the rod doesnt move, its sticking.

If you mean could it have caused some oil to be passed through the CCV into the intake and then out through the seal on the intercooler then yes it absolutely could. If youre asking if it would cause oil to be passed through the oil seals in the turbo itself then no. Oil is passed through the turbo seals if there is excessive oil pressure in that area, but the amount of oil in the pan wont affect that. At least, not in the high direction.
