INA0S ROM

As I've posted on another thread, I finally got someone to give me an INA0S ROM file from an OFT. I'm in the process of putting together an XDF for this ROM to allow people to tune it in TunerPro.

It may be slow going as I don't have a lot of spare time to spend on mapping the XDF at the moment, but I'm about 1/3 of the way through it.

I am seeing some interesting changes to this ROM, some of which are quite perplexing.

With that said, I have a few questions for those running the INA0S ROM.

1) Does the car seem to have faster boost response as compared to your previous stock ROM (ILA0S)?

2) Does full boost feel as strong as your previous ROM?

3) Do you still feel like the car Overboosts as it did on the previous ROM (i.e. runs more boost under certain conditions)?

It may be hard for some of you to compare as you many have been tuned previously and not remember how the new ROM compares to stock.

I'll provide more information later on why I'm asking these questions.

Edit: I've added the INA0S xdf file.

Personally I am looking for another INA0S_IS to e-tune. We have one that we etuned but the situation with it is entirely vague, if there is another boost leak or its ROM related.

I got enough feedback from this car to encourage NOT to update to INA0S_IS. I think I have a local doing FBO who is INA0S_IS that we will be tuning soon

Is INAOS capable of running in the same hardware as ILAOS? or from the factory's perspective are they mutually exclusive?

INA0S is just the next in line after IMC0S which was the successor to ILA0S.

I've attached the list of ROM versions with INA0S added on. I don't see why a car running ILA0S wouldn't be able to run INA0S.

I have INA0S on my car and it seems a lot better than IMC0S.

Every ROM in the list that end with "IS" are the successors of eather ROM ONLY in that family

ILA0S_IS can update to INA0S_IS or even IKC0S_IS can update to INA0S_IS

Does anyone have a primer explaining what was gained in each successive IS ROM?

I'm about 3/4 of the way through defining the XDF for the INA0S. I am currently using the INA0S from a Z4, and would like to verify my file will be compatible with an INA0S_IS.

If anyone with 335IS and the INA0S ROM could download the ROM to your OFT and send it to me, that would be very helpful.

I plan to share my XDF with the community so you would be helping all of us out by sharing.

It'll also be interesting to see if some of the changes BMW made for the Z4 are also made for the IS.

Hey desert dude if you have any issues defining a table send me a pm with the bin and question I may be able to help. I don't have time to do all the groundwork but if you're stumped and they drastically changed a table shape or location lemme know. Appreciate the dedication to the community, much respect.

Who knows, and honestly... who cares most of the time. Sometimes an oem will change things as obscure as O2 sensor sensitivity or underboost engine light thresholds if cats are failing or there's too many warranty claims to save a dollar, sometimes they make useful changes for spool, sometimes they make detrimental changes to spool to reduce wastegate rattle. Rarely, and I do mean rarely, they add logic.

Hello Desert Dude

I have a 2011 BMWis and currently, I was updated to INAOS rom without me wanted it done and the car does feel different.

To answer question one and two.

To me the boost response is a mixed bag. Some days it feels more responsive but in other situation it does not. I credit this to the extreme California Sun and a lot of heat. It really is much slower and less responsive when it is hot compared to the cooler days we are having now. It use to really hesitate and sometime it felt like boost take a while to come on. However now it feel ok. I did notice that the car drives a lot better in sport mode then with regular D. In fact, drive is jerky and even less responsive. Whereas sport mode is much faster and a lot smoother. I even notice better fuel economy in Sports mode as well compared to D.

I do feel that the overboost is still strong but it seems much smoother now than before. It used to be more brutal in nature and now it is smoother. It could be that they turned it down. I hope this helps.

I now have the INA0S XDF fully mapped out for all the same parameters that I have for the ILA0S.

I want to validate it against an INA0S_IS (335IS) ROM before I make it available. Hopefully Mythacali or someone will come through with a ROM for me to validate against soon.

The ILA0S_IS has more torque ceiling tolerance than the other ROMs. Also the Sport mode Torque Request Table is mapped differently.

The ILA0S_IS also has a DCT module update via the Dealer

Yes. The values in many of the tables are different but where the tables are in the ROM should be the same. Therefore they can both use the same XDF file.

I just want to verify before I release the file. I can easily adjust and release two files if that is not the case.

When the dealership updated my car they updated all modules including the DCT.

It was last updated 4 months ago so it was already on pretty recent software.

There's quite a big change in the DCT software too. It's a lot smoother coming to a stop and it feels less indecisive in normal mode.
I tend to always drive in D/S mode and have noticed it holding gears longer even at moderate throttle which makes some nice noises when your just rolling along.

Enjoy!

We have successfully tuned a large number of INA0S and INA0S_IS cars without any issues. Tuning ISs with their DCTs is certainly a ton of fun Drivetrain losses in general with DCT cars are smaller than with 6MTs and 6ATs so if you're after N54 record numbers out there whether its the dyno or the drag strip, get it done with DCT IS car on drag radials

Your 2013 should have ILA0S and DCT update already as that was the standard rom for 2013s. If went to the dealer now, they would update you to INA0S.
