Oil Catch Can

Has anyone done a good DIY for installing Burger Motorsports oil catch can? I know the product comes with instructions and I've seen versions done for the 135i.

I've heard that there is some amount of crimping and space management that has to occur to fit this piece in. Any detailed advice or pics would be greatly appreciated.

It's exactly as per the PDF instructions. You may have a touch less space to the firewall in an E8x but fundamentally, it's the same motor in the same engine bay. The space constraints are always a PITA when working on this motor, it is what it is.

Only annoying part is getting the external check valve hose off. You have to apply more force and torque than feels comfortable applying.

30 min job more or less, there's very little to screw up.

I followed the instructions and got it all done in under an hour including installing a new RB PCV valve as well as cutting my ER carbon fiber engine cover. They recommend cutting the engine cover but say you don't have to. For me, the carbon wasn't as flexible as the OEM plastic cover so I had to trim it some. Overall it's a very easy install though.

I cut my engine cover also just to make the fit better....

Pretty easy to do as other said ! I did also cut my engine cover and everything fit very nicely and easily !

Hey all. I just wanted to thank everyone again for the feedback on the OCC install. I literally just finished putting it in this evening (with the help of a relative). Getting all of those plastic clips off was a pain in the #($.

All in all, the install was straight forward once we understood where all the pieces went, it was just a horrible pain to get everything off and on again. The catch can is on. Everything is running fine.

Good to hear, OP. I have had my OCC for a while...need to install. Like most engine-related installs, I need to wait until the engine is cool to do this...one morning, soon.
