Which glow plugs are people using on their 335d motors? BMW ones or the Bosch ones? Is one better over the other or are there better alternatives out there?

Also is the Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 LL04 sufficient for an oil change? How many litres will i need? Does around 7.5 sound about right?

Also is there anyone in and around the Midlands that does Walnut Blasting on our 335d engines?

bosch is good. so is beru.

I used bosch ones, easy! Not really had done it before on a 335d it's quite time consuming!

there is DIY on here how to take inlet off. its not that hard but i would pay someone first and watch them. if OP decideds to do DIY dont over tighten the glow plugs

Not sure if BERU are OEM but everybody says get beru. there not expensive either really about £60 for all 6 beru or bosch from euro car parts.

I fitted Bosch to mine, no problems since fitted around 12 months ago. 7-8 L of sounds right from memory. Can't help with the walnut blasting, sorry.

Exactly but a guy above is saying its an easy job!

My bosch have been in for about 9 month.

I've just done oil and filter on mine.

I used Petronas 5w30 as it's LL04 specification and a good price. The 335d takes 7.5 litres.

Can't help with the glow plugs though.

I saw some "trained" mechanics taking an inlet MF off a 330d and it looked like a ball ache. They also had issues with dropped "bits" going into/around/under the engine so they had to take the under tray off to find them. I just don't have the time or patience but as mentioned, it's looking like a £450 job if I pay someone, money I could do without spending.

never heard of so much nonsense, taking the inlet off and changing the glowplugs is around 1 hour job for any mechanic, they will quote you 2 hours to be save. so thats what? around £80 just for glowplugs. and the rest for the controller? im not sure where the controller is but it cant be £350 worth of labour

take it elsewhere mate.

i had glowplugs and controller changed together and cost 350 including labour

I paid £50 for the glow plugs + £30 labour and then bought the BERU Controller on ebay for £65 and another £30 to fit it using my independent guy.

no offence bud but the genuine glow plugs are around £60 from your local euro car parts. Bosch plugs or Beru

He has charged you £190 labour for probably an hours job for a mechanic.

read up a guy paid £30 for an indy to change the plugs!
