I would like to unlock the car and....

Hi everyone, I need some help, advice or a nudge in the right direction.

When unlocking the car I would like a lot more exterior lighting turned on than what is currently happening.
Right now, the tail light, the door handle lights and the angel eyes come on.
I would like either the fogs to come on as well or the head lights.

How would I go about getting this done?

Past experience tells me to fit one of those remote engine start alarms.
They would turn on the lights and get the car running before you get inside but I would rather avoid that.
I'm currently in a situation where I have to lock up and make my way to the car in extreme darkness and the yellow angle rings does little to help.

Thanks

You can have fogs come on with someone simply coding it.

An easier thing would be the chirp sound so it's not only visual for you but audible.

Thanks. I'll research that after work and another night in the pitch black, but failing that would my other option be an expensive visit to BMW?

How old is your car? And where do you live? There might be someone local to you with a BMWhat app.

2007 is a fishy year for BMWhat. You would need to run your vin and check your build date. There's a BMWhat thread, maybe ask in there If there is anyone local to you. Or check the coding sticky

Hi everyone. Thanks for telling me about BMWhat. I wasn't aware of it.
I've done the research and I'm only left with a few questions and worries.

The worry is that the app could become obsolete one day if the developer stops working on it and phone OS upgrades render it useless, like some apps recently.
But I guess I will get my money's worth before that.

Can I just say though, that I have been asking about improving the "welcome lights" feature when you're heading towards the car not the "follow me home" feature when you're walking away from the car. Follow me home seems to be the only one of the two mentioned in the coding list.
Is welcome light coding definitely available?

Hi all im after some info please..

I've downloaded the free version of the BMWhat app it comes up on my phone as

iViNi-app lite BMW that's the icon on my home page.

I've not tried it yet with my car but its a 56 plate 330 D m sport with factory Bluetooth which is synced to my phone ( Samsung note 2 ) will I be able to do much with the free version?

Do I need to buy any other cables to hook up to my phone?

What can I get the app to turn on ?

Thanks

Hi, you need to purchase the full version to make any changes to your coding, the free version allows you to see which ECU'S are readable with your WIFI iPhone or Bluetooth (android) so you will need Bluetooth with samsung OBD Adaptor which you need to buy, some ebay parts work with most modules but all depends how lucky you are, the genuine lets you into all of course

Regards Dan

Guy's, I thought it best to come back here and thank you for pointing me in the direction of this app.
It turned out to be exactly what I needed and then some.
Out of all the functions, I am only interested in 5% of them. Tweaking the car to oblivion isn't my aim at the moment.

There now seems to be many variations of setting up 'follow me home' AND 'welcome' lights. For now I've set up just the main front lights and fogs to come on slowly when I unlock the car. I will tweak it to perfection later.

I tired to get the 'side mirror fold' function to work when locking and unlocking by remote but my first attempt didn't work. I am concerned though that double tapping the buttons as it suggests will conflict with the 'window drop' function when you want to enter the car in tight parking spaces.

The icing on the cake was the coding to drop and raise the roof whilst driving!
I've been wanting this feature for a while and believed I would have to spend close to £200 to get an additional device fitted to my car. Imagine my surprise that a £35 app can do it over the air in less than 20 seconds.
I gave it a test run (under 30kph of course) and it worked perfectly. All I need to do now is research whether my car can handle the strain.
Thank you again.

You don't double tap to fold the mirrors when locking, you hold the lock button for a second or 2. I coded this on mine via bmwhat and it works perfectly. Still find it funny that despite paying for the option of having folding mirrors, you have to code it to fold on locking via the fob. My previous fiesta did this automatically, so why wouldn't my BMW?!

I'd like the welcome lights to come on if I press the lock button while the car is locked, the reason being, If I can't see my car in a car park I don't really want to unlock it & have the lights come on just to be able to find it but, but activating the welcome lights whilst keeping the car locked would be very useful - is this possible?
