Twitchy car... After wheel change

Hi guys - this is probably going to be a bit random and vague but ever since I swapped my mv3 wheels for some 313 reps my car has felt a bit twitchy... It's seems to drive straight but every now and then the wheels just seems to want to change direction... It's almost like the tracking is way out but it can decide it wants to go either way. It's not massive or jerky but I can definitely feel the twitchyness in the steering wheel.
Any ideas? Thanks |

Have had the same problem after a wheel change. A 4 wheel laser alignment with something decent like a hunter machine and not some average one you find everywhere should do the trick. Cambers were fine but the toe was way off. Basically felt like left wheels were trying to go right and the rights were trying to go right.

When you changed alloys did you go from 18's to 19's with lower profile tyres, and are the alloys wider? As this combination can make the car tramline more than it used to.
Also did you change from runflats to non runflats as this can feel a little weird at first. |

Thanks guys - i didn't think a wheel change would cause this but I'll look into a 4 wheel alignment.
The 313s I put on are completely different... They are 19s, wider and different offset... Could that cause it? |

My thoughts too... but it could be exacerbated by tires mounted backwards, if they are directional, or if they are new tires just not having had the tread "edges" rounded off yet.
Really screwed up offsets up front *could* cause this but I would expect fitment issues as well and OP didn't report any of that yet. |

Cheers guys - no issues with fitment the offset isn't much lower than the mv3s but can't remember exactly. The tyres aren't new have about 5mm tread on them.
Directions tyres is a good shout. I did look to see if they were directional when I was putting the wheels on but I couldn't see anything to suggest they were. The issue is I don't have any spare wheels so I'm going to struggle to swap them over with just a trolley jack |

In that case, I would look into an alignment and see if you have toe out in front. That could cause the twitchiness. Perhaps lower-profile, stickier tires are making a pre-existing condition more obvious.

Sounds like tramlining to me also, although i dont get this on my 313's but mine are genuine and my set up is likely to be totally different to yours. (Eibachs & Konis)

thanks guys - most likely just tramlining then. Probably just seems more noticable now i'm on low profile tyres compared to the chunky ones that were on the mv3

Lower profile and wider defo points at tramlining as the likely cause.
