Hey guys,

New to the beamer world, I've always had commodores but know nothing about BMW's and don't want to go into a shop and get ripped off or anything.
Looking at lowering my e92 but don't know what springs to get or are coil overs better?
it is a daily driver car, don't want it slammed like my old car where I had King springs SSL in the rears and SL in the fronts, just want it sitting on top of the tyre.
if anyone can post pics to that would be great and price of how much it cost you :thump:

If you are going with springs, H&R springs will be your choice. But if you wanted to be sitting on top of the tires evenly, then coilovers will be the one that you would want. Springs doesn't gives the drop that you wanted. Lowering springs will be more affordable than coilovers. Springs will gives you the bouncing riding.

I recently changed from Commodore to e92 too, although in my SS had the king springs the other way around SSL in front and SL in rear to have a more even look over the wheel arches.

For the e92 there are 2 popular lowering springs to use; Eibach or H&R.

Eibach have a more raked stance as it doesn't lower as much in the rear as H&R, but H&R is lower overall if that's what you're after, which also means that changing the shocks is a must whereas Eibach are ok with oem shocks.

I ended up not bothering with lowering springs as i have the m-sport suspension which is very similar height to Eibach.

If you are really particular about ride heights coil-overs is the best option.

Don't need to be sitting evenly, just don't want to have to roll the guards as I do plan to put 19's on it

The need for rolling the guards will also depend on what 19's you choose.

And you could always look out for second hand m-sport springs if you want low but not too low (i'm assuming your car is non-M sport height now)

+1 I have an E90 with H&R sport springs + Bilstein sport shocks.

Good combo IMHO for a daily, but it depends on what you're after!

If you're after adjustability, then coilovers are preferred.

Thanks man! 18s, but I know 19s will fit if they're not too aggressive with the offset. If you opt for a more aggressive set up, you'll need to roll your guards

just a side note on springs - eibach's are progressive whereas h&r's are linear.. ie: if you plan on running mildly aggressive offsets (something close to flush fitment) and like to take corners fast, I'd recommend the h&r's. ive had two sets before and always found them to hold up well. they have low and super low springs similar to the variety king springs offer. However eibachs are more daily friendly / comfortable.. my 2c

cheers woosh, I am the type of person to take corners pretty hard lol so thats a good idea to keep in mind. don't want to have to get the guards rolled but if I have to I have to haha

I understand you cant just throw any shock on with lowering springs. Koni and Bilstein has shocks specially made (shortened) to work with lowering springs.

What shocks do you need to pair up with the HR low or super low springs????

From the forums, Koni sports adjustable, Bilstein B8s are quoted, but we all know not all info on the forums is correct
