One one hand I am the type of fan who will always believe that 4 5 and 6 were the best and truest films but on the other I was really excited to see JJ Abrams doing the new one. I'm still a little worried but probably just because the prequel trilogy left a bad taste in my mouth.
My major worries for the film: Special effects: I know that I am not the first to say that once special effects are used in every scene they are no longer "special," but the prequel trilogy was totally bastardized with them (and the originals when they were re-released with the added effects; remember when Luke, Obi Wan and the droids arrive at Mos Eisley? The re-edit has so much shit digitally added that it literally occludes the screen). It's like Lucas didn't realize that special effects aren't what kept people coming back. Abrams loves his effects too but he is at least effective with them. Lightsabers: Remember the original duels where it was more about the characters and not about the fucking lightsabers? File this under "cramming special effects in" but it really made me resent the prequels that Lucas missed the memo on this one too. Darth Vader: Darth Vader is gone. Dead. I better not see him in this movie because it would only serve licensing purposes, although with Lucas out of the way we don't have to worry about that as much. Who ever asked themselves why Vader appeared at the end of Revenge of the Sith for 10 seconds so that he could stumble around like a moron and deliver instant classics like "Where is Padme?" and "NOOOOOOO!" It was so that Lucas could put his image all over promotions, cereal boxes, action figures, posters, comics, collectibles, etc and make lots of money. All that said I already see special effects, lightsabers and Vader on the posters. I can only hope the film itself goes elsewhere. There has been a lot of talk about how there will be much less CGI and more practical effects used. As long as they don't take a step backward for the sake of taking a step, I support it. |

Holy cow so exciting!
I hope this is as good as series 4/5/6. I much liked the effect and overall feel of the 4/5/6/ than 1/2/3 even those series were much older. |

1,2 and 3 were in a word: Forced. They lacked soul and great character development like the originals. I belive JJ has heard fans cries and will do great justice to the franchise.

OMFGI'MSOHYPED!!!!!
![]() I never watched Star Trek until the JJ Abrams movies and I loved them. I also haven't gone back to see the old ones, so if JJ did anything to ruin anything in the Star Trek universe - I don't know about it. With that said, again, I loved the direction and effects of the recent Star Trek movies and am really excited as to what he can do with Star wars. @TXSTYLE those aren't real posters of ep.7 right? |

Nice concept art!
Some of the on-set pics (or leaks) do show some sort of desert marketplace and what looks like gates to Jabba's palace. So I think the desert drawings may have some representation in the movie. |

You're probably right, that looks like Jabba's sail barge in the third drawing.

as PINeely pointed out and the problem I ran into watch these franchise movies. like many I grew up seeing the original one on the big screen and I saw the second one as well. The third on tape at later time and never saw 1, 2, or 3 at the theater, my son saw one or two at the theater. We have them all on DVD and watch them 1 through 6 in our movie room and they were hard to watch, 1,2,3 have all the CGI affects then 4 , 5 and 6 effect are old school so it like watch a movie going down hill from a quality stand point.

The Star Trek reboots were better Star Wars films than the prequels. Im pretty excited to see what Abrams does with these films.

Still the best movie experience I have is when my parents took me to Gruman's Chinese to see the original. The little ship flies over, then the Imperial Star cruiser rumbles onto screen and the whole theatre is shaking!!!

What does this note mean from JJ Abrams? It means that THIS FRIDAY an 88-second teaser will be released.
