Thanks. When I first removed the cowl, the DME cover kept bugging me so I painted it. Now if I can just figure out a way to cover the brake fluid reservoir...
It's too bad there's not much you can really do to our bays. My other car has a VQ35 and for those, you can pretty much have everything polished. You can tuck wires, and relocate/hide a lot of stuff. I don't want a show level engine bay, but I do get tired of looking at random wires covered in electrical tape and hoses. I think my next steps would be to get a decent looking intake, then go with AN lines like rob. |

OT, but it looks like you and JB4N have the cowl filters; how do you like them? I like the pic too, more understated than the others here.

I like the cowl filters - there is more noise but that's partly why I like them. The looks are personal preference, but I like the more open engine bay. I tend to remove everything I can (no snorkel either). Plus I got really, really tired of having to pull the cowl for everything. It takes 5 minutes, but add all the times up and it's a decent chunk of time. Other than top off your fluids, there is literally nothing you can work on without pulling the cowls. Finally, I have BMS OCC so it's easier to check now.
Downside of the cowl filters is you can't really get ambient air anymore. If you don't use your AC, the air is very warm. It's basically like having the heat on all the time. Better when you're moving, but if you're stopped, the climate control will only blow warm air if you don't use the AC. That's because the cowls pull air directly from the engine bay now and that air is hot. Other potential downside is water getting into the DME. But I don't see it as a problem. If you close the box correctly, it's sealed. I've driven through heavy rain and washed the car lots of times. No problems at all - I've popped the hood after washing to see and never more than a couple of drops on the box which again is sealed. |

What shock tower braces do you have? Did they make a noticeable improvement?

I'm with you on the hassle of removing the cowl every time you check your OCC or anything for that matter. I'll probably jerry rig something to at least somewhat cover the dme box , just in case. The looks aren't a big deal to me, I'm thinking of getting them mainly for the convenience. Thanks for letting me know what you think of them though!
