H8 DRL replacement preLCI E91
Hi
Please can someone point me to the DIY for changing the H8(?) bulb for my factory standard bi-xenon DRL rings? One bulb has blown. Also which bulbs can I use - any 35W H8? Which ones are good? I guess if I get two I can change from the current yellow to a whiter ring? May as well I guess. Cheers

This looks like the right DIY - but from a LHD car.
It seems access is a PITA. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28879 Still not sure what I can fit to a pre-LCI. There is a suggestion this is a special BMW bulb (£55!), but there is a range of ebay options - it seems from ranging from £10 to £100 for a pair. With stories of error codes and overheating on cheap ones, but this could be bull from those selling the £100 bulbs! Help! Its a minefield!

On a RHD car, access to the left hand (pax) light is not too bad, drivers side looks rather tricky unless you get the wheel arch off.
I think I understand now that the pre-LCI car has a none standard bulb, hence standard H8 bulbs are no good (H8 only for later LCI E90/91 and coupes I think). --- on the bulbs themselves, for LED replacements: Still, some charge £26 delivered. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E90-E9...item233dc4c991 Others £130! (yes I know it is an aussie link) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANGEL-EYE-...item3a7f1e9d56 I've seen the name CREE pop up a few times, are they OK? Can you get the stock BMW one, other than at a dealer? I might just get one stock one as the side that has gone is easy to replace.

Horizon LED are recommended on here. i ordered 40w cree led and they worked great.
They are a pain to change though. remove wheel. remove arch liner and trying to pop the bracket off is a pain. theres 2 screws holding the bulb in place removing them isnt easy either if you got normal size hands they are around £40 for them from their website. look in uk classified section there up the top in there |
