Cold Air Intake in Emerald City
I live in the rainy city of Seattle, curious to know about the negative effects rain has near a cold air intake system. Could rain penetrate the filter or be harmful? Any insight on the issue is much appreciated.

You will be fine as long as you dont submerge the CAI in the water, which would be about to your bottom doorline.

That bypass is interesting, I dont want to be johnny hackomoto and cut up my new intake though. I have read a few posts and rain doesn't seem to be a major problem, i hope...

Just found some info on a K&N "drycharger". This wraps around the cone filter resisting any water. The shield has some type of silicone treatment which helps against water penetration. Looks like a CAI condom, works for me.

That would just restrict more air wouldn't it?

Here's a decent unit, goes from CAI to short-ram, or BACK to CAI in 45 minutes. Peace of mind, for those days when you see Noahs Ark coming at you
