For the E46, a lot of companies have released SuperCharger Kits that can add up to 150HP to your car.
If someone released a somewhat reliable super charger kit for the E9x, would you get it? Why or why not? |

It's called Twin Charging, or compound charging, and a lot of tuners in Japan have done it to various cars there with amazing results.
I wouldn't do it because I'm not crazy enough to possibly blow up an engine. But I know someone around here might be crazy enough to try and do it. |

It's only a good idea for showing off your technical abilities.. on the usability end its fucking retarded. Someone did it on an STi and the thing got like 4-6mpg or something horrible when both turbo/supercharger were running.

I'm not saying I would do it, but for trying to pull out the maximum horses from your engine, it would seem at least in theory, compound charging is the way to go.
The "typical compound or twin charge" method is having a turbo, an inter cooler, then the supercharger, then another inter cooler then the intake. That way when the turbo spools up it pushes the supercharger, or bypasses it letting the supercharger freewheel, taking the load off the pulley system and supplying additional boost. I'd love to see what this would do with a high compression engine like the E9x uses. I'm guessing either near Super Car stats, or a blown engine. |

Do you remember what HP and Torque the person was getting on the the STi when compound charged? It must've sounded ridiculously nice though.

If I had a N/A vehicle and if it was from a reliable company like Active Autowerke and installed by them, then yes. Not with a new car, but as the years go along and I'm set on keeping the car, then definitely.

Not if there was an already FI alternative from the factory. IMO it's usually more of a PITA then it's worth taking an NA car and going FI as opposed to tuning a factory FI car.

Apparently the Al/Mg block in the 330/325 can not handle FI (ceramic coated cylinder liners?). |

I don't see why a mild boost ( 5 - 7 psi ) supercharger kit should not work. The e46 330i gained around 100 bhp. However, you will be near the costs of a 335i and have a worse FI implementation, IMO.

Yeah the cost would put you into the 335i range, but it would be cool to mod something like this yourself as a project. |

supercharger + TT on an e9x?
ahhh, why? we already have basically no lag, so why SC? I'd rather plumb a sequential setup than do SC + TT. My guess is the best upgrade path to major power for this car is probably more like the Supra TTs: sacraficing low end torque for GOBBS of high end torque utilizing a single, larger blower. |

To me the whole twin charging thing is one of those "just because you can, it doesn't mean you should" kind of things.
If you want tons of power with little to no lag just don't build a small displacement engine to make a 1000hp. The cost, complexity and added weight pretty much out weigh any advantage IMO. |

I would never SC an E90 325 or an E46 325/330. I just don't see the point when there are cheaper ways to make similar power levels more reliably. In the case of the E46 you can just upgrade to an M3, and with the E90 I would just buy a 335 if I wanted a faster car. I am usually not the type of person who is against modding cars by any means, but on my last car I added FI and after all of the headaches its just not worth it if you have other options instead. Just my 2 cents though.
