OEM Digital TV Retrofit (for CIC)..... DONE

There has been one retrofit I wanted to do but never got round to do it..... TV!

Even tho I've got a new car coming, I'll be attempting this install!

Parts needed:
CIC (any version or year)

TV Module from F series:

Diversity antenna with TV outs:

Summary of install:

1. Installed TV diversity
2. Ran 2 wires from diversity to boot
3. Plugged MOST wires into the junction box
4. Tapped into the power & ground wire going into the combox.
5. Run wires to to the CIC
6. Code CIC

Job done!

I've installed the Kufatec FISCUBE in mine for £295 total. Advantages of the system is that it integrates like oem but also lets you watch movies from USB.

Be interested to see the costs involved in this.

It's probably easier but I like everything oem..... plus I don't want any nasty aftermarket aerial!

Ps £295 is a good price..... is that used?

Nice job dude. I have the factory TV tuner in mine and although I barely ever use it, it kept the gf happy on long journeys and I occasionally go out to the car on lunch breaks and watch a bit of telly

Previous cars have always had rear headrest screens and front screen with DVD player. That's always kept the family happy for sure lol.

The TV module I've got, has the output for rear screens.... so I might look at doing this - as I think in gonna keep the car (well give it to the misses)!?

I just need to code it so I can watch tv on the move..... my M25 commute is going to be more entertaining now!

Also, to those that have the Tv module.... where does it go - underneath the cd changer?

I've ordered the mounting bracket but unsure where exactly it goes?

Is that MPEG2 or MPEG4?
I think BMW only does MPEG2 modules but not sure...Kufatec too as far as I am aware

Just found this thread, I'd love to add TV to my CIC/combox set up!
I had it in my RS4 and do miss it.
I'm sure I've read the E91 has issues/differences with the aerials, can anyone confirm?

The mounting bracket arrived from Germany..... unfortunately the TV module doesn't fit, probably cos it's from a F Series.... these couldn't have been installed in the E9x!?

I think I'll be able to modify it...... I'll update this weekend.

The install would be the same, but you might need a different tuner due to local tv frequencies?

I know analog tv here no longer works.. Its atsc now. But I'm no expert! So I assume that antenna you install has to be for north american frequencies? Looks awesome!

Anyone do a rear TV setup for the kiddies?

Ive just noticed, you have an E91.
That changes everything.
I too have one and am in the process of trying to work everything out as the set up for antennas and other stuff is unique to the E91 from any other model.
Without wanting to derail this thread, so far I have found this and am trying to research further.
I might start a separate thread for E91 research

You just to get the correct diversity antennas. If you want to have tv in the rear, make sure you get a tv module with RSE.

The only difference if the diversity antenna.... leave it to me, I'll find the parts you need

Anyway back to the mount: here's some pics:

Mount only £12 from BMW:

The F series module doesn't fit:

I'm going to remove this part & I'll reckon it'll fit - it'll be held in by 3 bolts instead of 4!
