The same could be said about gas powered cars in the 70s. Thankfully we made a much smarter choice than just banning gas in the 70s. "Progressives" trying to ban something though...how original.

When you made the trip there back in the 70's, whatever you saw it's true.
Since they have very strict emission rules (Euro5 currently, on par to what CARB does here), tailpipe gases are as clean as ours. That technology comes from Europe, not US.
