plz help low coolant warning!!
hey guys,
I filled up coolant roughly a few days ago, and coolant low sign popped up. i popped the hood n opened lid, i see most of the coolants i put in are gone. it seemed to be coolants were boiling really hot tho. Any idea what could be possibly wrong with it? if someone could help me out, I would appreciate it. |

This happened to me. I got a low coolant sign then topped it off. I got low coolant again and then I topped it off again. I got low coolant a 3rd time checked under the hood while car was running and saw I had a leak, it was spraying out. Lol got it fixed but you probably have a leak.

Okay, I heard coolants boiling really hard n when i opened the cap, it actually overflow. i filled it up a few days ago, low coolant sign came back on. i was checking to see if it was leaking under the car, but it was dripping very slow for like 30 seconds n it stopped dripping. Does anyone know what the problem is?

It is very likely the radiator. Also, if you opened the coolant system up while warm it should overflow, it is under pressure.

Similar issue i am having. I have a '11 335i w/ 36k miles and just over 2 weeks ago I get a "Coolant Level Low!" Yellow light warning. I go and fill BMW coolant myself to inbetween the Min/Max line of the coolant container and the light goes away. Then 4-5 days later the "Coolant Level Low!" Yellow light comes back on. I go to check on the coolant level and it's look like I never even filled it from before so I add coolant yet again (to middle of min/max line). The very next day I check the coolant level and it's like the coolant emptied out again but this time no "Coolant Level Low!" Light yet. Low and behold, 3 days later the yellow warning light comes back.
I'm still under warranty and luckily engine-mod free for now. I will absolutely be taking it in to the dealer but any idea what the issue might be? Just curious so I can get an idea of what to expect from the dealer |

Coolant does not just magically disappear. Most likely you have a leak. And nobody can tell you what to expect as you have to find where it leaks first. You said you found dripping. A small dripping when coolant is cold can turn to a big leak when the coolant is hot and system is pressurized.
And be careful to not run with low amount of coolant for too long as it makes water pump run extra hard, which is a fantastic way to kill your old water pump. |

If you're losing coolant at an increasing rate, it's probably a leak. Maybe something cracked somewhere on your radiator or you broke one of the hoses. It happens.

Are you using OEM coolant or are you mixing Antifreeze with water from an aftermarket product?
Coolant will not run dry in a week's time if you drive it hard, it will drop slightly but not dry or below minimum. |

I have a leak on my car from the driver's side of the radiator somewhere. I told them about it when I just had my car in for service, but they said they did a pressure test and it was fine. Why the hell do I have a big blue spot on my garage floor then?

Did you pour Gatorade on the floor? Or did you spill the coolant when you fill it up?

I didn't add coolant. It doesn't leak out fast, just a few drops some nights.
