A/c releasing White dust 2007 e90
Hi guys just wanted ask for some advice off anyone on here who could help,
I've had my 2007 "57" 318d (143) for over a year now , it has ull service history part BMW and just going on 127,000 mls so at the end of last summer I had my aircon re-gassed about a month or two after this white dust started comming out of the ac when I had it on cold and full flow, At first I thought it was because of the re gassing and they had done something wrong, after abit of investigating I found out my car is fitted with a " denso" evaporator unit which is faulty in the 2007 range of e90 So I searched more and some people had there cars taken into BMW and the problem resolved free of charge, So I rang BMW on the phone spoke to the service manger who said u have to have a diagnostic on the car to confirm it first which will be £130 to which after abit of a back and forth I agreed to pay and then they would send it off to Bmw for good will but he did mention that he doesn't know if they will pay anything towards it, So I booked my car in for £130 diagnostic for today I went into BMW service spoke to the service guy who told me I will be wasting my time having a diagnostic because BMW will not give me good will for the following reasons The car is 7 years old There is no warranty Car has over 100,000 on clock And that his hasn't been serviced with Williams He said I would b wasting my money because I'm right in thinking it is the evaporator and I may aswell just put that money towards getting the job done And gave me a quote of £1400 to do the full job and they will need the car for a full week I explained how I worried about the dangerous dust being expelled and he wasn't bothered really Now my problem is I havnt got £1400 to fork out on a car that has 130000 on the clock and I'm worried about taking it into a ac specialist because it's a big job is dash out and they cock it up and id b gutted Any advise guys have I got a leg to stand in with BMW fixing? Any advise would be great |

Personal view - after 100K, seven years and non-BMW service, you can't expect anything in law...

Also a waste of time paying BMW dealer to diagnose a well known issue. Get a quote from an independent garage who has done this before.

I had exactly the same fault in the summer.
Took it to BMW UK, who agreed to cover the cost of the evaporator. Went to back to BMW Nine Elms and managed to get some good will off them. Ended up paying £1000, and they had the car for two days If Williams are being arses about it, take it elsewhere. It's a lot of labour (A week is excessive: suggests they will fit it in between other jobs) Try, at the very best, to get BMW to comp the part PM me if you need help |
